Wellington’s tennis courts are now officially open for the spring/summer season. Thank you to the football club for leaving it in such good condition and a massive thank you to the tennis working party comprising Derek Backhouse, Stu McFarlane, Debbie Swan, Pete Raynor and Linda & Marc Willimont.

Membership is now LIVE and can be made via the LTA’s Clubspark website to which we subscribe. The link is below:

Last year’s members wishing to immediately rejoin have been given 14 days grace for renewal, with the code for the combination padlock on the tennis courts being on the club’s WhatsApp group or obtainable by direct messaging us on Facebook.

Membership fees were agreed at the AGM to remain the same as last year, which are:
Students and children under 18 years: £16
Young persons (18 to 25 years): £30
Adult: £52
Joint: £80
Family: £95
All the above categories entitle you to free access to the courts from now until 30th September, with no additional booking fees required.

Children enrolling onto the previously advertised 10 week coaching sessions will be given automatic child membership as above, with access at all times permitted provided there is suitable supervision for the younger ones as appropriate.

Although we wish to encourage new members, we do appreciate that some residents and those staying in Wellington’s holiday accommodation may only want very occasional use. We are therefore pleased to provide a booking service via the LTA website at £10 per session via the link:

The Wellington tennis courts will be opening up this weekend for the spring/summer season.

We are also pleased to announce that our club will again be able to offer tennis coaching lessons for children and teenagers from both Wellington and the surrounding villages, being run by a professional coach at last year’s very affordable prices.
Coaching will be every Tuesday afternoon after school, starting on 21st April after the Easter holidays.

Tennis coaching for children starts this Thursday 1st May and will run for 11 weeks.

7 to 11 year olds 3.30-4.30pm
11+ year olds 4.40-5.40pm

All sessions will be on the tennis courts behind Wellington School and will be instructed by our professional coach again, Howard Richards, who is LTA accredited and DBS checked. All equipment is supplied.

The cost for all 11 sessions is only £65, which will run every Thursday excluding the Whit Week half term.

Memberships for the tennis club, and therefore unlimited access to all three courts, are now available via the LTA’s Clubspark web link below. All fees remaining the same as last year:

The club will automatically be notified when a member joins.

A new reduced rate category for 18-25 year olds is also available for £30 - please email [email protected] or [email protected] for this option as we are currently unable to load this onto the link.

Wellington Tennis Club is now officially open for the 2025 season ahead.

Our thanks go to Will Perkins and the football club for leaving the courts in such a good condition for handover. Also to the club’s Pete, Debbie, Stu, Linda and Marc for setting up all the nets and gear yesterday evening. Thanks also to Andrew Heal for spraying the weeds for us.

Arrangements are again being made for professional coaching for children (and potentially adults) and this will be publicised shortly through the school, Facebook and elsewhere.

Our AGM will be held on Tuesday 8th April and we look forward to seeing as many members as possible as we plan for the season before us.

The courts have now been cleared of weeds and overhanging hedges and all the tennis nets have been carefully put away for winter. The footballers now have the courts until April next year, although we look forward to the start of another season ahead of us.
Thank you to those involved in the mammoth clear up yesterday and thanks also to all those who help make Wellington’s tennis club happen.

Great to support the Wellington Fun Week this gloriously sunny Sunday with open tennis for the village, washed down with free strawberries & cream plus Robinson’s orange squash. There’s a lot of new promising talent out there..!

Tennis coaching with a professional coach starts this Tuesday for 11 weeks and there are still a few places left for the 12+ years age group which will run from 4.40 to 5.40pm.

Wellington Tennis club is pleased to announce that we again are providing junior tennis coaching. Howard Richards (the same professional coach as last year) is able to offer 2 sessions for up to 8 children per session.
A member of the tennis club will assist Howard with each session.

3.30 - 4.30pm - younger children
4.30 - 5.30pm - older children

The sessions will run on Tuesdays for 11 weeks with a break for half term starting from:-

Tuesday 30th April - Tuesday 16th July.
THERE WILL BE NO COACHING 28th JUNE - HALF TERM

The cost is very competitive at £60.50 for 11 weeks (£5.50 per session).
