We may not have had a white Christmas but it’s looking pretty white on court this morning!
Looking forward to more tennis, more pickleball, more fun and friendship on court in 2026 (just as soon as the snow/ice melts)

Welcome to court 3 (previously known as court 1)!
The club will soon be reopened, keep an eye on your email in the next couple of days for more information.
Through the rest of autumn and winter the courts will look like this and in spring the surface will be painted blue and green and permanent lines put down. There are still a few more things we need to finish off but we’re keen to get playing again!
And the numbering? We felt it made more sense to number the courts sequentially as you enter the club, so the old court three becomes court one, court two is unchanged, and court 3 is the farthest court just behind the clubhouse.

Here’s a glimpse of Court 1 with its new surface, haunching, fencing, and gate. No more awkward step blocking the gate opening either, we’ve got flat access and a gate that opens both ways!
We can’t wait for the big reveal. Not long to go now!

Here’s a shout out to the fantastic team who are transforming our tennis club. 🤩
Over the last few days they have laid new tarmac on all three courts, transporting it up the drive in several trips with mini tippers as the lorry is unable to access the club.
Thank you for all your hard work. We can’t wait to see the transformation!

This week we can see small holes drilled into the old tarmac surface. This will improve drainage and is the last stage of preparation for the new surface, which will be laid this week.
Rolls of smart new green fencing are lined up and will be installed after the tarmac has been laid.

An update at the end of the second week of our court resurfacing project.
This week the work has been focussed on Court 1 and we can see…
A digger (with apologies that the song is actually about a tractor but that was the closest I could find)!
A tired old fence post on Court 2 contrasted with a shiny new green fence post on Court 1.
For those of you that appreciate the beauty of detail and precision, here’s some lovely straight brickwork at the edge of the court.
Don’t forget you can continue to play tennis at other local clubs. Get in touch if you want more information about offers to DFTC members.

Work has begun on the resurfacing of our tennis courts 🥳
Over the next few weeks we’ll give you a glimpse into what’s happening at the club while we are closed.
This week as been all about demolition! A gate chucked aside, net posts ripped out, piles of rubble on court. It’s out with the old to make way for the new!
Don’t forgot that although you can’t play tennis and pickleball at the moment, our local community have been so supportive. DFTC members have provision at , , Gosling, and Wymondley tennis clubs for tennis and Digswell for pickleball. We’re grateful to them for opening their doors to us. Get in touch if you’re not sure what the provision is.
Thank you to all of our members for their support and fundraising and to for the grant that is helping fund this project.
