5 ways to make movement fun for children 🏃‍♀️🎉
Exercise doesn’t need to feel like exercise — especially for kids!
Try these simple ways to make movement something they want to do:
🎯 1. Turn it into a game
Tag, obstacle courses, treasure hunts or movement challenges can make activity feel like play.
🏆 2. Add a challenge
Can they beat their own score, complete a new skill or try something they couldn’t do last week?
🎵 3. Use music
Dancing, freeze dance or movement games can make even simple activities more exciting.
👫 4. Get involved
Children are more likely to enjoy being active when adults join in too. Make it something you do together.
🌟 5. Let them choose
Football, swimming, cycling, dancing, climbing or running — there’s no single “right” way to be active.
The goal isn’t to make every session harder.
It’s to help children discover that moving their bodies can be fun. ❤️

Why your heart rate changes during exercise ❤️‍🔥
Ever noticed your heart rate climbing as your workout gets harder?
That’s your cardiovascular system responding to the increased demand for oxygen and nutrients from your working muscles.
During exercise:
❤️ Your heart beats faster to pump more blood around the body.
🫁 Your breathing increases to bring in more oxygen and remove carbon dioxide.
💪 Your muscles need more oxygen to produce the energy required to keep moving.
🌡️ Your body temperature rises, so your heart also helps increase blood flow to the skin to support heat loss.
As your fitness improves, your body can become more efficient at delivering and using oxygen. This means the same exercise may feel easier and require a lower heart rate over time.
And remember — heart rate is influenced by more than just fitness. Temperature, hydration, stress, caffeine, sleep and medication can all affect it.
Your heart rate is more than just a number on your watch — it’s a window into how your body is responding to exercise. 💪

Why Rest Days Matter 💤💪
More training doesn’t always mean more progress.
When you exercise, your muscles and other tissues experience stress and fatigue. Recovery gives your body time to repair, adapt and become better prepared for your next session.
Rest days can help to:
🧠 Reduce physical and mental fatigue
💪 Support muscle repair and adaptation
📈 Improve performance over time
🦴 Reduce the risk of accumulating excessive training stress
😴 Support better sleep and overall recovery
Rest doesn’t necessarily mean doing nothing. Light walking, mobility or gentle movement can be a great way to stay active while allowing your body to recover.
Training provides the stimulus. Recovery is where the adaptation happens.
So don’t feel guilty for taking a day off — rest is part of the programme. 👏

PERSONAL TRAINING IS OPEN 👀

Things have finally settled down after taking on Grayt Wellness Centre, which means I can now open up a small number of Personal Training spaces in my independently owned gym.

But this isn't your standard PT service.
I'm a BSc Sports Therapist with a background in injury rehabilitation, and I'm bringing that knowledge into 1-to-1 and 2-to-1 personal training.
That means your sessions aren't just about getting sweaty for an hour.
They're about:
🏋️ Getting stronger
🩹 Training around injuries and niggles
🧠 Building confidence in your body
📈 Progressing at the right pace
🎯 Working towards YOUR goals

Whether you want to get fitter, stronger, lose weight, return to training after injury or simply feel more confident in the gym — we'll build your training around you.

I'm opening just 5 dedicated weekly spaces, with each person having the same slot every week.

No fighting for bookings. No random sessions. Just consistent 1-to-1 coaching.
If you've been thinking about PT, now is the time to get in touch.
