West Bridgford Shotokan Karate Club

For me, karate training is not only a time for physical release, it’s also a much needed form of mental relaxation from the hustle and bustle of the world.
Being in the dojo helps me forget about outside stresses and lets me concentrate and focus on something I really enjoy doing.
Be it karate, football, painting or reading we all need that time when we can just be ourselves and do something we find rewarding.

It’s a New Year so why not try Karate? We start again from the Thursday 8th January at the Rushcliffe School Gym 5-6pm. Why not come along, what have you got to lose?

It was our first grading under the HDKI and our small but motley crew passed to get their new belts. Sensei Simon Bligh took the grading at the ShinKiKai dojo in Newark. They’ve all shown a lot of hard work and dedication and I couldn’t be prouder. Well done🥋😀👍

After much deliberation I have decided to leave the KUGB and join the HDKI.
Thank you to all the people who I’ve met over the last 9 years training, from regional courses, kata squads and of course my local dojo it’s been a blast.
I have felt for some time that I want to further my karate knowledge, so have trained with lots of different associations and instructors. I have enjoyed this immensely and joining the HDKI will help me on my journey.
Onwards and upwards🤛🥋👍😃

Had a great afternoon yesterday in Derby with the ‘Three Amigos’. Trying something completely new (for me anyway)! Thank you to Sensei John Johnston Adaptive Karate, Sensei Simon Oliver and Sensei Steve Lowe. Bruised and battered, but came away having learnt a lot, making more friends and a big grin on my face!😃thanks also to John from Sunshine Meadow for being my training partner for the day.

It was with great pride and pleasure that I was able to give Harry and Seth their 2nd kyu belts and Serin her Black belt after today’s class. They all graded at the KUGB Spring course in Torbay.
Serin is the clubs second Black belt and was fully deserved after a huge amount of training, dedication and perseverance. Congratulations to you all 👍🥋
Also a big thank you to all the people who congratulated Serin on passing her belt.

It is with immense pride that I was able to give Molly her Black belt at today’s class. She took her grading and passed last Sunday under the watchful eyes of Sensei Brenna and Sensei Higgins.
Molly was at the very first lesson of the clubs opening back in 2019. She has worked incredibly hard and persevered when many would have given in.
I think the smile says it all👍😃🥋

It was our last grading of the year and as usual our students did us proud. They have persevered through illness and injuries and all passed their grading to get their new belts.

Just had a great weekend training in Liverpool. Brilliant sessions on Saturday with Sensei Ohta and then on Sunday with Sensei Stuart Amos.
