CHRONIC PAIN ISN’T ALWAYS SOMETHING YOU CAN SEE ❤️

This photo is me.

Strong. Active. Hiking. Smiling.

You probably wouldn’t look at this photo and think chronic pain.

But I know what chronic pain feels like because I’ve lived with it.

And pain isn’t always screaming agony.

Sometimes it’s tightness, burning, tingling, pulling, aching, pressure or a sharp sensation that has been there for so long that you almost learn to live around it.

You work.
You exercise.
You smile.
You get on with your day.

You put on your brave face because life doesn’t stop just because your body hurts.

And eventually you become very good at hiding it.

I remember finding that one comfortable position — lying down, sitting or standing — where suddenly, for five minutes, I couldn’t feel it.

That tiny moment when my body finally went quiet.

Then someone would innocently ask:

“Do you want a coffee?” ☕️

And I could snap. 😅

Not because I didn’t want the coffee.
Not because they had done anything wrong.

But because I had finally found my little pain-free zone, and I didn’t want to move or have that moment interrupted.

They couldn’t see that.

They couldn’t know what was happening inside my body.

And that’s the thing about chronic pain…

Because someone looks fine, it doesn’t mean they feel fine.

Persistent pain can affect much more than movement. It can affect our concentration, patience, sleep, mood, relationships and simply how much energy we have left for everyday life.

So perhaps this photo is exactly what chronic pain can look like.

Strong. Capable. Smiling. Getting on with life.

While fighting a battle nobody else can see. ❤️

You don’t have to see someone’s pain for their pain to be real.

Getting Out of Pain Is Only Half the Job 💪

Getting someone feeling better is important.

But I don’t want that to be where the journey ends.

Treatment can help reduce symptoms, improve movement and make everyday activities more comfortable.

Then comes another important part:

Building your body back up. 💪

Strength.
Stability.
Movement control.
Confidence.
And gradually increasing your body’s ability to tolerate the demands of work, exercise and everyday life.

My goal isn’t for you to become dependent on treatment.

My goal is to help you reach the point where your body is stronger, more capable and more resilient — and you’re confident using it.

That’s why my approach is:

ASSESS → TREAT → MOVE → STRENGTHEN → SUSTAIN

Treatment and exercise shouldn’t be two completely separate worlds.

For many people, they’re different parts of the same journey. ❤️

Your Body Is a Chain 🔗

Where you feel pain isn’t always the whole story.

Your ankle doesn’t work independently from your knee.
Your knee doesn’t work independently from your hip.
And your hips, pelvis and spine all have to work together when you walk, run, lift, train or simply move through everyday life.

If one area has reduced mobility, strength or control, your body is incredibly good at finding another way to get the job done.

That’s called compensation — and some compensation is completely normal.

But when certain areas repeatedly take more load than they’re comfortable handling, symptoms can sometimes develop.

That’s why I assess more than the painful spot.

I’m interested in how YOU move as a whole person.

Not because every imbalance needs “fixing” — it doesn’t.

But because understanding how your body shares movement and load can help us decide what actually needs attention and what doesn’t.

One part of the chain can influence another.
The whole body matters. ❤️

Why Does the Pain Keep Coming Back? 🔄

Have you ever had treatment, felt amazing afterwards… and then a few days or weeks later thought:

“Here we go again.” 😩

When discomfort keeps returning, simply treating the area that hurts may not be enough.

Recurring symptoms can have many contributing factors — movement habits, soft-tissue restrictions, sensitivity, strength and capacity, repetitive activities, changes in training load, stress and recovery.

Sometimes the painful area is working harder because something else isn’t contributing as effectively as it could.

This is why assessment matters.

I don’t just want to know WHERE it hurts.
I want to understand WHY your body may be struggling to cope with what you’re asking it to do.

Relieving symptoms is important ❤️
But identifying contributing factors and improving how your body moves and tolerates load is where we start working towards longer-term change.

YOUR LOWER BACK FEELS TIGHT… BUT IS YOUR BACK REALLY THE PROBLEM? 🤔

That familiar lower-back tightness…

You stretch it.
It feels better for a while.
Then a few hours later — it’s back again.

Why?

Because your lower back doesn’t work in isolation.

Your hips, thoracic spine, pelvis, core, glutes, strength, movement habits and daily activities all contribute to how forces are distributed through your body.

And sometimes the area that feels tight is simply the area working particularly hard.

You might experience:

• Constant tightness or stiffness
• Aching after sitting or standing
• Difficulty bending or getting back upright
• Feeling “locked up” first thing in the morning
• Fatigue or heaviness through your lower back
• Feeling like you constantly need to stretch
• Reduced confidence with certain movements or exercise

But this doesn’t automatically mean your back is damaged or that something is “out of place.”

Our bodies adapt.

Sitting for long periods, standing all day, repetitive movements, sudden changes in training, reduced movement, strength deficits, poor recovery and stress can all influence how your back feels.

That’s why I don’t believe in simply chasing the painful or tight area.

I want to know:

🔎 How does your whole body move?
🤲 Where are the relevant restrictions or sensitive areas?
🏃‍♀️ Where could movement and control be improved?
💪 Where do we need more strength and capacity?

Then we ASSESS → TREAT → MOVE → STRENGTHEN → SUSTAIN.

Because the goal isn’t a “perfect” back.

It’s a body that can move, work, train and enjoy everyday life with confidence. ❤️
