Earlier this month the club held it's AGM and 2024 season Trophy presentations. Here are a few of this years Trophy winners with the mounted photo frame of them all in action. Congratulations to them all.
The winter season continues with the Boxing day and New Years day pursuit races.

Sailing today at Weston Turville was a quiet affair in terms of the strength of wind available to play with but 10 boats came out to give it their best. The sun was shining most of the time. Well done everyone.

You don’t see races like this in the Olympics.
Twelve boats took part in this weekend’s Paterson Pursuit Trophy races. The pursuit race is when each sailor is given a personal start time based on their previous performance. This year the start times ranged from 4 to 12 minutes. Once the race is underway each sailor is trying to improve their position such that all the boats arrive on the finish line together. Well that’s the theory.
The wind came and went during all three races making those coming from the back work extremely hard to sail through the fleet. A well deserved congratulations to Phil Sheppard in his Solo, the over all winner, and to Ian Sloan( Laser) and Justin Rudd(Solo) for coming 2nd and 3rd respectively.
A huge thank you to our Officers of the day, Alan, Pete and Mac, for setting the course and recording the results.
The clubs Paterson trophy is named after John Paterson, yacht owner and racer, Sheriff, Vice Lord Lieutenant of the county and a previous Honorary President of ASC.

The sailing season is well underway at ASC. The first Super Saturday afternoon last weekend gave all boat owners, at the club, an opportunity to get on the water with a support in attendance.
Junior Sailing will start on Sunday 5th May at 3pm with a briefing, beginning the regular sailing until the summer break.
Racing has been ongoing throughout most of the year however now the Spring series has started and first of the Trophy events has taken place, all have been well attended.

Our very 'keen' winter sailors are currently taking part in a race series called the Winter Fun club. Starting around 10.30am on Sunday's or when the wind eventually starts to blow, usually two races using all the lake where possible. Visitors to the club usually say the sailors must be lunatics but if the sun is shinning and the wind is coming from the north it can make for great sailing.

The ASC Yuletide series ended today following the Boxing Day and New Years day pursuit races.
Each participant received a personal start time based on their previous sailing performance, making it a tougher challenge for our experienced sailors. The sailing conditions for both days were good. Rear Commodore Mac calculated the PY numbers and set the courses for the pursuit racers.
On Boxing Day there were 11 boats on the water and Waldi in his Solo came in first with Phil hot on his heels. New Year’s Day race saw 9 boats participating and a young Comet sailor Sam took the winners bell.
So, the Yuletide trophy goes to Waldi as the highest scorer for the series and a commendation for Sam coming first on New Year’s Day.
