KT's K9 Academy Offering a range of dog training services and classes throughout Derby/Notts/Burton and local areas I'm Katie and I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

I have a Foundation Science Degree in Veterinary Nursing and have been a qualified nurse for over 10 years. I have an Advanced Certificate in Canine Veterinary Nursing which covers dog stress, behaviour and training. I believe that having a well trained and socialised dog not only makes them a healthier and happier dog but also creates a massive bond between owner and dog. We currently offer two different types of positive reward based dog classed which are based at Weston-On-Trent Village Hall. The Puppy Socialisation Classes run for a 4 week course and are suitable for puppies ranging from after their 1st vaccinations up to the age of 6 months. We cover socialisation with dogs, people and children, the vets and many other things. We also start to learn basic commands, health checking and behavioural problems. The Dog Obedience Classes are a beginner class and are based on the Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme Bronze Award. These are run for an 8 week course and are available for dogs over the age of 6 months old. These are group sessions and dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds and behaviour are able to attend these courses. They cover all basic obedience such as sit, down, stand, walking to heel, recall, wait and much more. Finally we offer a 121 service for people after that more personal experience. This involves a 2 hour initial consultation to work on the concerns as well as a full written training plan and continued phone support. these are available at requested locations.

So immensely proud of my little pocket rocket 🥰
Yesturday she attended for her referral assessment for possible BOAS. She was very well behaved around dogs in the waiting room and extremely brave and well behaved in the consult room when being examined by the male vet. All our hard work is paying off 💗💗
Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS) is a condition common in Bracycephalic (flat faced dogs) which affects their breathing. Luckily maggie isn't completely impaired but did struggle this summer with the heatwave and managing to regulate her temperature.
So she went to see the referral vet and has been booked in for a CT scan and surgery depending on CT results

We have a new puppy class starting on 10th October and we still have loads of spaces to spare!
Have a puppy between the ages of 8 weeks and 5/6 months?
Our puppy classes are group sessions where we allow the pups to socialise in a safe off lead manner.. we also start basic training and deal with typical puppy problems.

Come down to see us, there's many great stalls here, it's bigger than ever!
(As you can hear in the video, Katie's very excited for the desert stall that's here and they do look very yummy!)
