Message from the Chair:
Today marks 5 years since Uphill Juniors had their very first training session. I turned up expecting to support the Management team with Safeguarding, was handed a t-shirt and told I was coaching and haven't really looked back! Uphill Juniors was formed with the intention of building a community, and it has succeeded! Whether you have been with us from that first Thursday night or are joining us new this season, you are the reason this club exists.
The volunteers are working hard behind the scenes to get things ready for the new season; signing players on, registering teams with the league, sorting kit and sponsorship and arranging pre-season training and friendlies. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who works so hard to provide fun and inclusive football to the young people in our community, their passion and dedication is what has kept us going for the past 5 years and we are only going to get stronger.
If you, or anyone you know, might be able to sponsor one of our teams, please visit our website https://uphilljuniorsfc.co.uk/sponsors and follow the link.

It's been a busy day for tournaments, our Under 12s have also been in action, making it through to the Plate semi-final and then final, which we won 4-3 on penalties! A good day for Uphill Juniors

An exhausting morning of football for our u8s. Plenty of goals in the groups from Zenon (4), Caspian (2) and Arthur (1). Binson (3), Barney (1) and Reuben (1) then led to a tight intra-club semi final encounter resulting in a narrow 1-0 win for the Guards. Could have been more if it wasn't for Knights' keeper Thomas saving a penalty and putting his body on the line.
The Guards final game started well with Uphill the more positive against Long Ashton. However, tiredness had set in and led to a disappointing defeat.
The coaching team of Mike, Dan and James are super proud of every player's performance this morning. It's great to see how well they are all developing.
Knights player of the tournament went to Binson who continued his great show of form from the end of the season and also getting his first three goals for the club.
Guards player of the tournament went to Myles. He was peppered with shots all day and did everything he could to stop goals from going in.
Been a great fun filled morning and we hope for more next season.
These are the sorts of experiences Uphill Juniors was created for. Building lifelong memories whilst having fun and keeping fit.

This morning's tournament was the last appearance for Aland who is moving abroad. Mike, under 8s coach said "We will be losing not just a great young footballer but also a respected member of our team. Aland has amazing dribbling skills and no doubt will improve so much as he grows. We will miss him and wish him all the best for the future."
Everyone at Uphill Juniors wishes you the very best for your future Aland!

Today we also said a huge thank you to Ian and Carina, who set the club up in 2021. As many of you will know, Ian and his wife Carina are stepping down from managing Uphill this season and we couldn't let them leave without acknowledging that. Over 5 years ago, Carina and Ian had a vision to provide a fun, safe environment for the young people in the local area where Carina worked. Born from a love of football and a strong desire for everyone to be able to access it, Uphill Juniors quite literally would not exist if it hadn't been for their determination, passion and dedication. From the initial battles with the league to championing the community at a local and regional level, Carina and Ian were tireless in making sure the club not only got off the ground but managed to thrive. They have not been able to be as present over the last season as before but they can leave safe in the knowledge that their vision for an inclusive, welcoming and fun based football community is absolutely thriving.
Taking over from Ian as chair is a honour and a privilege and I hope the club continues to echo the values that he and Carina so strongly installed from the start. The club gifted them a whole club photo as a memento of the journey they started 5 years ago, with a handful of reluctant coaches and a slightly bigger handful of enthusiastic players.
On a personal level, I often laugh at how I turned up on day 1 to help with safeguarding and got thrust a random t-shirt and told I was coaching. But it was the best thing that happened to me. I have learnt so much, made some amazing new friends and have a whole community of lovely young people of whom we should all be very proud.
I cannot wait to start Uphill Junior's new chapter.
