Getting in shape in your 40s doesn’t mean fitness has to take over your life.

Most of the people I coach are busy. They’ve got demanding jobs, families, social lives, travel, stress and plenty of other things competing for their time.

So the answer isn’t usually doing more.

It’s getting better at the things that matter.

A few good resistance sessions each week.
Keeping active.
Eating enough protein.
Getting your overall nutrition balance right.
And doing it consistently enough to see results.

You might not be able to live like you did at 20.

And that’s fine.

Your plan should fit around your life, not your life around your plan.

A lot of people I speak to already know the basics.

They know they should eat better.
They know they should train.
They know they need to be more consistent.

The problem isn’t always knowing what to do.

It’s actually doing it consistently when work gets busy, motivation drops, weekends happen and life gets in the way.

That’s where coaching can make such a difference.

Having someone who listens, helps you adapt the plan and gives you the accountability to keep moving forward.

As this client put it:

“I can lift, I know how to eat well, but the accountability part? That is invaluable.”

You don’t always need more information.

Sometimes you need the right structure, support and accountability to actually put it into practice.

If you’re a busy professional over 35 and want to lose body fat without extreme diets or living in the gym, send me START and we can have a chat 👍

I’m a fat loss coach, but I still have a life. 🍺

I enjoy a few pints at the weekend.

I eat normal meals with my family.

I eat chocolate and crisps, eat late at night and usually only train in the gym 3 times a week.

But there’s an important point here…

I balance it.

You obviously can’t eat and drink whatever you want, whenever you want, and expect to consistently lose body fat.

Fat loss still requires an energy deficit.

But that doesn’t mean you need to cut out everything you enjoy to create one.

Most of my meals are nutritious and high in protein. I stay active. I train consistently.

If I know I’m going out for a few drinks or a meal, I’ll be mindful around it.

And when I do have a few beers or something less nutritious, I enjoy it and then get back to normal.

That’s the bit I think gets lost with fat loss.

It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

You need to get the balance right most of the time, not be perfect all of the time.

80%, not 100%.

Because ultimately, the best approach is one you can actually see yourself maintaining long term.

If you’re a busy professional, female and over 35 and want to lose body fat without giving up your life, comment CLUB and I’ll send you the link to my free Sustainable Fat Loss Club.

Don’t underestimate bodyweight training 👇

I’ll admit, I’ve been guilty of it myself.

No gym. No weights. In my head, it almost feels like the session isn’t going to be worth doing.

But every time I put a proper bodyweight session together, I’m reminded just how effective it can be.

The key is knowing how to structure it.

Slower tempo.
Higher reps.
Pauses.
Single-leg movements.
Shorter rest periods.
Better range of movement.

You can make relatively simple exercises VERY challenging without picking up a single weight.

Would I still recommend resistance training with weights where possible? Absolutely.

But if you’re travelling for work, stuck in a hotel room, short on time or simply don’t have access to a gym, that doesn’t mean you can’t get a decent session in.

Something will nearly always beat nothing.

And for busy professionals, having that Plan B can be the difference between staying consistent and doing nothing for a week.

Don’t aim for perfect. Find a way to keep moving forward.

I’m never going to be the strongest. It was never in my genetics to lift the heaviest weights.

I’m never going to be the quickest.

I’m never going to be the richest or the most financially successful.

I’m also never going to have a full head of hair or be over 6ft 😆

And that’s fine.

Because what I can do is try to beat the person in the mirror.

Be a little bit better than I was yesterday.

Comparing yourself to others only ends one way.

There will always be someone stronger, leaner, faster, richer or more successful than you.

Yes, take inspiration from people. Learn from their successes and, probably more importantly, their failures.

But when we constantly compare ourselves to something that might not even be realistic for us, we end up feeling like we’re falling short.

The same goes for your health and fitness.

Someone else’s body isn’t your body.

Their lifestyle isn’t your lifestyle.

Their genetics, age, commitments, starting point and circumstances aren’t yours either.

So stop using somebody else as the benchmark for your own success.

Can you get a little stronger?

Can you move a little better?

Can you improve your fitness?

Can you eat a little better than you did before?

Can you feel better in yourself?

Can you keep showing up, even when things aren’t perfect?

That’s the comparison that actually matters.

You vs you.

And if you’re moving in the right direction, you’re doing alright 😊

Had a big Bank Holiday weekend? 🍻🍕🍷

Don’t panic.

One of the biggest reasons people struggle to get results isn’t because of one excessive weekend.

It’s what happens next.

You feel like you’ve messed everything up.

So Monday becomes Tuesday.

Tuesday becomes “I’ll start again next week.”

And before you know it, a few days out of routine has turned into 3 or 4 weeks.

That’s where the real damage happens.

You don’t need to starve yourself today.

You don’t need to add hours of cardio.

And you definitely don’t need to wait until next Monday.

Just get back into the swing of things.

Normal meals. Protein. Steps. Training. Water. Sleep.

You might see the scales jump up after a big weekend, but a lot of that can simply be extra food volume and water retention.

Give it a few days.

Fat loss isn’t about being perfect 100% of the time.

It’s about getting good at getting back on track when life happens.

Aim for 80%, not 100%. 👊

Comment or DM ‘GUIDE’ and I’ll send you my FREE Stress Reduction Guide 👊

Stress doesn’t magically stop you losing body fat.

But it can make the whole process a lot harder.

When stress stays high for long periods, you might notice:

Poor sleep
Low energy
More hunger and cravings
Feeling irritable or overwhelmed
Poorer recovery
Less motivation to train
More reliance on convenience food or alcohol

And this is where people often make the mistake of trying to do more.

Eat less. Train harder. Add more cardio.

When sometimes, you actually need to bring the overall load down.

Get outside and walk.
Prioritise your sleep routine.
Eat regular meals with plenty of protein.
Reduce training intensity if you’re exhausted.
Limit alcohol.
Find small periods in the day where you genuinely switch off.

You don’t need to remove stress completely. That’s unrealistic.

It’s about recognising when it’s building up and having strategies to manage it before everything else starts to suffer.

80% consistently will always beat trying to force 100% when life is already full on.
