🏃‍♀️ FIVE ROTHERHAM ATHLETES REPRESENT SOUTH YORKSHIRE 🏃‍♂️

Five Rotherham Harriers & AC athletes were selected to represent South Yorkshire in an inter-county match at Costello Stadium, Hull, on Saturday 12 September.

South Yorkshire competed against county teams from Humber, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire, with our athletes taking part across the track and field programme:

⚫ Colin Appiah – U12 Boys 75m and 4 x 75m relay
⚪ Bradley Cooper – U16 Boys 1500m
⚫ Caitlin Hughes – U12 Girls 75m and long jump
⚪ Mia Pettican – U14 Girls 200m, 4 x 100m relay and high jump
⚫ Edward Rose – U16 Boys 1500m and 4 x 100m relay

Edward produced an excellent performance to finish third in the 1500m, while Mia and Colin both ran the opening legs for their respective relay teams.

The provisional match results saw South Yorkshire secure a brilliant second place:

🥇 Humber – 305.5 points
🥈 South Yorkshire – 290.5 points
🥉 Nottinghamshire – 287.5 points
4️⃣ Derbyshire – 259.5 points
5️⃣ Lincolnshire – 158 points

A fantastic achievement by all five athletes and a proud day for the club. Congratulations to Colin, Bradley, Caitlin, Mia and Edward on earning their county selection and representing South Yorkshire and Rotherham Harriers with pride!

🏃‍♀️ GREAT NORTH RUN 2026 🏃‍♂️

A fantastic team of nine Rotherham Harriers & AC athletes joined a record-breaking field of 63,000 runners for the biggest Great North Run in the event’s 45-year history. Great Run

Warm and challenging conditions greeted the runners as they tackled the iconic 13.1-mile journey from Newcastle to South Shields. Beginning with the unforgettable crossing of the Tyne Bridge, the course continues through Gateshead before a tough, undulating second half and the final mile along the seafront.

Despite the heat and demanding course, our Harriers produced some brilliant performances:

⭐ Matt Harvey – 1:13:26
⭐ Jo Glenn – 2:21:02
⭐ Kelly Ling – 2:41:24
⭐ Michelle Eddison – 2:41:24
⭐ Joanne Palmer – 2:45:24
⭐ Stephen Charles – 2:53:27

The Great North Run is renowned for its incredible roadside support, huge crowds and electric atmosphere—and this year was no exception. Well done to every Harrier who proudly represented the club and battled through the warm conditions to reach that famous South Shields finish line. 🖤🤍

🏃‍♂️ KMR Wickersley Chase 🏃‍♀

A fantastic turnout from Rotherham Harriers & AC on Sunday for the latest round of the KMR series – the Wickersley Chase.

The very warm weather made for some seriously tough racing conditions, but there was plenty of determination, great running and the odd smile still left for the cameras! 😅☀️

⭐ Rob Watkinson produced the standout performance of the day, racing home in a superb 25:36 to take 1st place overall! 🥇

There was plenty more success for RHAC too, with Neil Mason, Angela Lally and Thomas Charles all claiming age-category victories. 🏆

🏃‍♂️LONDON MARATHON CLUB PLACE DRAW!

Congratulations to Ian Walters, who was the lucky name drawn for our club place at the 2027 London Marathon! 🇬🇧🏅

Ian will be representing Rotherham Harriers & AC on the streets of London next year, taking on the iconic 26.2 miles.

A huge congratulations, Ian! 👏

Everyone at the club will be behind you throughout the training and on the big day.
