A tough afternoon in the Presidents Trophy for the Parish 2nds, but plenty of positives to take from a committed performance against Sheffield Centralians 1st XI. π
After winning the toss and electing to field, Parish produced an excellent bowling and fielding display to dismiss the hosts for 131 in just 28.2 overs.
Fasih Khan was the standout performer with a superb 4-wicket haul, well supported by Cameron Walton and Safyan Arshad with two wickets apiece. Shadab Ahmed and Scott Wilson also got themselves into the wickets column as the Parish attack shared the spoils and kept the pressure on throughout. πͺ
The fielding effort matched the bowling, with catches spread across the side as Parish ensured the target remained well within reach.
In reply, the visitors found themselves up against a disciplined bowling attack and regular wickets made it difficult to build the partnerships needed to chase the target. Shabaz Qadeer top scored with 23, while Scott Wilson battled hard for 14 and Basharat Ali added 7 as Parish fought to the very end.
Despite the result not going the Parish way, there were plenty of encouraging performances with the ball and in the field against strong opposition, and the side will look to take those positives into next weekendβs league fixtures. π

A valiant cup run came to an end for the Parish 1st XI on Sunday, but not without a determined fight against a strong Woodhouse Grange CC 1st XI side at Church Fields. π
After winning the toss and electing to field, Parish produced a disciplined team bowling performance to restrict the visitors to 236-7 from their 40 overs. Tom Bolland and Bhargavkumar Merai both picked up two wickets apiece, while Kazim Hassan, Joe Norbury and Mark Cummins all chipped in with a wicket as every bowler played their part in keeping the target within reach.
In reply, Parish found themselves under early pressure but showed plenty of character to fight back. Joe Norbury led the way with a superb 65, striking six fours and four sixes in an entertaining innings, while Mark Cummins provided excellent support with a composed 35 in a crucial fifth-wicket partnership. Yahya Ahmad then added a quickfire 18 to keep hopes alive as the chase gathered momentum. π₯
Despite the late charge, Parish eventually finished on 196, falling just short of the target against quality opposition.
The result brings the cup campaign to an end, but there were plenty of positives to take from another committed performance, with the lads battling right to the final wicket. Heads up and focus turns back to league cricket. πͺπ
