Excited to announce that Mike, AKA will be with us on Saturday 12th July - offering those that ride down a bicycle check up for a donation to our fundraiser.

Mike is also a former paramedic who knows all too well how tough life on the front line of our emergency services can be. He gets it and we are so grateful to have him and his mad spanner skills joining us!

You might even be lucky enough to join him for a workout too!

There is nothing black and white about bike maintenance.

Huge variances in "standards"; constant innovation; a seemingly endless race to be faster, lighter and more aero.

All this across a seemingly endless number of disciplines, means any given day in the workshop can feel a bit like completing cryptic crossword while 6 pints deep!

It's a bonkers world, but it's one I'm stoked to be a part of - I love the challenges, I love bikes and I love riding - all disciplines!

To the casual on looker, this might be as close as it gets to a cross over from the Paramedic world I used to live in; Far from it however.

Listening to people, and working out what they require from me.
The presenting issue that a bike is brought to me with, very often ends up being a down stream issue - caused by an upstream issue. Fix the issue, not the symptoms.
Paperwork - all Spoke Mechanic customers receive a detailed, fully itemised report of the work that has been completed. Ensuring that they understand fully where their money has been spent, and what condition their bike is in.

I strive to bring over the holistic approach of a health care professional into my work as a bicycle mechanic. Not to mention the attention to detail and desire for perfection.
While it's not quite life or death decision making, like it can be at times as a paramedic.

It is very important to me!
