Many thanks to all who turned out today for the Senior's team v. the Men’s team.
It was thanks to the Northumberland GC for kindly hosting this event today over the Winter Course. The staff were very hospitable as always when we are there. Very much appreciated.
The result was a 9.5 to 2.5 win for the Men’s team. The Results sheet is as shown below.
Overall, I believe, a good result for the Senior's team. Senior's team player John Metcalfe had the joint best gross score with Carl Thompson from the Men’s team, both scoring 68.
Next up for the Seniors team is another OOM get-together at Alnmouth Village GC on Sunday 15th March 2026. Hopefully another good turnout. A draw will be issued in due course.

Today, Alnmouth Village GC warmly welcomed the Northumberland County Seniors squad for the first Seniors fixture of 2026. The Course, as usual was in excellent condition. The greens were consistent and true. The weather was breezy which made conditions tricky for good scoring but good scores did prevail. The course is always a joy to play and anyone reading this report should bear that in mind when looking for a good golfing day out. The course is historic and the oldest 9 hole links course in England. Stunning views. See photos.
21 players from the 2026 Seniors squad of 23 took part in the friendly get together. An excellent turn out. 7 new squad players attended their 1st County Seniors get-together. This was the first fixture where points were awarded towards the 2026 seasons Seniors Order of Merit.

Northumberland County Seniors. Texas Scramble @ The Northumberland G.C. Monday 6th October.
Today was our last event of 2025, played in warm conditions with a stiff breeze in the morning, which died down in the afternoon.
The course is in excellent condition, the greens especially and all the competitors were very complimentary. We had 23 teams and some really good scoring.
The winners with a nett score of 57.3 were Messers Mike Brett, John Newlands and Jim and Rob Po***ck. All from The NGC. Local knowledge obviously helped.
Runners up and only beaten by .1 of a shot were David Ballantine, Perry Kent, Mel Yeoman from Ponteland G.C. and Steven Peck from Morpeth with a score of 57.4.
In third place were Robert Chalmers, David Robinson, Alan Black and Peter Lewis, all from Alnwick Castle G.C. With a score of 57.9
Thanks to The NGC for hosting the event, and thanks to everyone who played today.
Next year’s events will be announced very soon and we will look forward to seeing you there!
