| love dandelion clocks - or wishes as I call them.
If one floats past me, l’ll always grab it and make a wish.

Do you ever let yourself wish properly? Or do you imagine what you’d wish for then immediately tell yourself all the reasons why it’s impossible?

What would you do if you weren’t scared?

Not “what should you do”.
If fear wasn’t a factor. If you trusted yourself completely.
If other people’s opinions didn’t matter.
What would you change about your life right now?

Most of us don’t let ourselves ask this question properly.
We immediately shut it down with “I can’t, because...”
But you can’t move toward what you want if you won’t even admit what it is.

So here’s a little exercise to help you explore your wishes:
Write it down. Just for yourself. No one else needs to see it.
What would you do if you weren’t scared?
You don’t have to do it. You don’t have to tell anyone.
You don’t even have to believe it’s possible yet.
Just let yourself know what the answer is.

Because you can’t figure out how to get there if you won’t admit where “there” is.

How is everyone doing?

Frazzled? Running on fumes?

Christmas can be manic, especially working in hospitality.

But stop putting pressure on yourself please!

Stop comparing yourself to others.
Stop looking at social media thinking that you’re missing out or somehow failing.

No-one is doing it all. No-one has it all. Stop pushing yourself to the brink for some made up fantasy.

You don’t have to do all the things.
You don’t have to match some impossible standard - or feckin pyjamas!

This is the busiest time of year for hospitality. Go easy on yourselt.

Give yourself permission to do less.
To say no.
To skip things.
To just get through December without adding extra pressure.

That’s more than enough.

I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again:
Nothing changes if nothing changes.

I know. I’ve been where you are.

So, it’s blue Monday apparently?

How do I know? Because it’s bloody everywhere!

I wouldn’t know were it not for the countless social media & news posts.

Here are my feelings on it.

It’s a load of crap (could have ended this post here).

It is not based on science.
It was allegedly coined by a psychologist in 2005 who developed a formula:
Christmas being over x Weather x debt (caused by Christmas) = we’re all depressed.
Why did he do this? To help a travel agent sell holidays.

I hate this so much.

I hate how it trivialises mental health.

I hate how it’s now used as a PR gimmick to sell numerous “wellness” lotions, potions, diets & courses.

A day is not inherently good or bad, it just is.
Mental health is individual to each of us, we all have good & bad days so to try and pin it on one day is stupid.

Don’t buy into it.
Try not to allow the constant deluge of social media & news posts get to you.

Treat it with the disdain I do.
Ignore it.

I don’t know about you but sometimes I feel there are supposed gurus everywhere, especially on here!
Everyone with their must-do tips & techniques.
Each more earnest than the last.
I find it confusing & too much to take in at times.
I also find it disingenuous.

Apart from the fact that “doom scrolling” is bad for our mental health anyway, it’s also harmful for our brains to be taking on so much information & stimulus provided by these wee tempting, handheld devices. So instead of feeling better, we can often come away feeling overwhelmed.

I post and coach from experience.
Every post on my page are tools & techniques that helped me with my own anxiety.
I won’t ever tell you what you HAVE TO DO!
I will only ever suggest practices that you are comfortable with.

Everyone is different.
Everyone’s experience of anxiety is different.
There is no one size fits all MUST DO approach.

I treat each client as they are: an individual.

You’ll find me every Tuesday at .124 or alternatively, over zoom.
