Whittlesey Warriors Netball Club Founded in 2010, we are Whittlesey Warriors Netball Club! ✨💗💪🏻

Whittlesey Warriors is a club for young girls and women to enjoy and play netball, we offer training sessions on Monday's for all abilities and Tuesday's for our experienced players, all coached by our qualified sport coaches and trained umpires. We have been a successfully running club since 2010 with over 100 members, we have 4 adult teams and 4 junior teams all who participate in league tournaments and friendly leagues.

Warriors Prem v Rockets✨

We knew this was going to be a tough game today, facing Rockets, who finished 4th in Division 1 last season and beat us 64–36 the last time we played them.
With new combinations in attack once again, our game plan was to be patient — both with the ball and with ourselves — allowing ourselves time to work things out and patiently bring the ball through court to goal.

After some early miscommunication in attack, we managed to level the score in the first quarter. However, we then lost a couple of centre passes, allowing Rockets to take a four-goal lead into quarter time.

It was much the same in the second quarter. Excellent defending from the defensive end created turnovers, while there was some really patient play through the midcourt. At times, the attack worked the ball beautifully into the shooters. Unfortunately, any errors we made were quickly punished, with Rockets turning the ball over and capitalising on our mistakes. Despite this, we only lost the second quarter by one goal — a real positive to take into the second half.

Georgia, Wynne, Lucy and Justice worked tirelessly throughout, constantly switching up the play, confusing the space and making Rockets work hard to get the ball into their circle.

There were also some great passages of play in attack, although at times we stopped driving onto the ball, which allowed Rockets to eat away at the scoreline.
The final score was 54–43 to Rockets - thank you for a lovely game! 🩷

🏐U14 JDG LEAGUE🏐

What a start to the season! 👏

We knew going into today that it was going to be a very tough test. We have been placed in the Top Division and faced a very strong Warboys A side. Although we came away with a 37–18 loss, we are absolutely delighted with the score and, more importantly, the performance and attitude shown by the girls.

The determination, teamwork and fight throughout the whole match were fantastic. Even in the final quarter, the last quarter score was just 7–8 — what an incredible effort against such strong opposition! 💪

The girls really took on board the targets around ball turnovers, centre passes and reaching the circle edge, and it was brilliant to see improvements through the match in footwork, passing and re-offering as the ball moved into the attacking third.

As we said before the match, this was a fantastic opportunity to learn from strong opposition, and the girls certainly did that. 💪

Some of the girls had already played an Estover League match earlier this morning before taking to the court again, which shows their effort and commitment👏

🏐ESTOVER YOUTH LEAGUE RESULTS🏐

U14 Whites v Ladybirds Red 21-15 WIN

What a great start to the season! We had good control of the game from the beginning taking a strong lead. Good pace down the court and strong transitions from attack to defense helped us pick up loose balls and make some great interceptions. Q3 was our strongest, turning over the ball 3 times and scoring from it 💪🏻 Last qtr ladybirds started to pull it back but we were able to keep the lead we had built through the game.

We still have some fundamentals to work on as footwork lost us some balls and ball placement at times was rushed and not direct. That being said, it was our first match back after a big break and it was a brilliant match so I look forward to our next 💪🏻🤍🩷🖤

🏐FUSION LEAGUE🏐

U16 performance vs Northants Storm✨

It was a great starting quarter with both teams showing speed and agility across the court and the score reflected this with only one goal difference heading into the next quarter.

Warriors unfortunately lost some possession due to our own errors and Storm capitalised on this and managed to pull away a strong lead in the middle of the game. We regrouped and spoke about reoffers to the ball and reducing our speed and headed into the last quarter with a new energy and this was a brilliant quarter to watch. The quarter was a draw in goals and highly competitive in all areas of the court!

Unfortunately Storm had pulled away too much of a lead during the middle of the game but it was a great game for the girls for the start of the season!

Warriors 3 vs Elite 7✨

16-31 L

It was a tough one against Elite, especially now we’ve stepped up into a higher division.

Team 3 started strong, positive and with great energy, and it was brilliant to see us battling hard and trying to build that momentum throughout the game🔥🏐

Defence was tight preventing successful feeds and making important intercepts. Attack worked hard to make good feeds with our shooters then converting this to some lovely shots.
Mid court worked hard to encourage safe passage down the court and transitioning from attack to defence as needed.

Despite the scoreline team 3 kept going right to the final whistle🩷🏐🖤

Warriors 2 vs All Stars

50-36 W🏆

Another great game for Warriors 2 as we took on Allstars! The team continued to build on the fantastic start to the winter season, showing plenty of teamwork, determination and confidence throughout the game.

Our attacking play was a real highlight, with some fantastic feeds into the circle and good movement to create space. The shooters worked hard to find the best position, while the midcourt did a brilliant job of moving the ball through the court and keeping possession.

Defensively, we worked really hard to delay the attack, putting pressure on the Allstars players and making them work for every pass. There were some great interceptions, strong challenges and plenty of hands over the ball. The whole team worked together defensively, with players backing each other up and recovering quickly when possession changed.

Another really strong team performance and lots of positives to take forward. The more this team plays together, the more their understanding and confidence is growing. 💪🏐

Game ended with a great win. Well done Warriors 2🩷

Warriors 4 v Ladybirds 3✨

The game started with both teams scoring on their own centre passes, fighting and working to maintain possession. Half way through the first quarter, 4s converted an interception into a goal and from then on maintained the lead throughout the game.

The team worked on bringing the ball up court, developing new partnerships on court to maintain the lead. We saw some tactical changes from Ladybirds throughout the third and fourth quarter however 4s maintained the lead - with the 4th quarter being our highest scoring and strongest defensively in terms of score line.

The team communicated really well, have improved each week and showed how versatile they are with some players playing out of position.

A well earned first win for the new team!

What a performance! The girls controlled the game from the start, having only 7 players and no fresh legs they had to push hard to keep the energy high and not let fatigue set in. They took on board feedback at qtr time and small tweaks were made defensively and in attack. The focus on possession and turnover of the ball made the difference and gave the girls the mindset they needed. All the girls worked extremely hard showing amazing shooting, strong defence and a brilliant mid-court effort, with interceptions disrupting the game and keeping the momentum firmly with Warriors.

🏐CAMBRIDGESHIRE COUNTY PREM LEAGUE RESULTS🏐

Warriors Prem v Witches✨

Warriors Prem travelled over to Netherhall on a very wet Sunday to play our friends at Witches in the first game of the Cambridgeshire County Premier League.

A couple of passing errors in the opening minutes saw us go 0–3 down, but team morale remained high. The positive attitude on court lifted everyone, and we quickly worked our way back to level the score.
The defence worked tirelessly to put pressure on the ball and disrupt the strong Witches GS.💪🏻

In the last quarter, Georgia moved to GS to help steady the attack and encourage the team to work the ball patiently to goal. However, Witches were quick to capitalise on any mistakes, and unfortunately we allowed the scoreline to slip away.
Witches came away with the win, 44–31.

Despite the result, this was an incredible effort from the whole team, with many new combinations and three of our lovely U16s stepping up. It was also a much-improved scoreline compared with the same fixture last season.💪🏻

A massive shout-out to Lucy, who worked tirelessly in defence, taking numerous well-timed intercepts, supporting the ball through court and giving 100% for the entire 60 minutes. An outstanding performance from start to finish — and deservedly taking all three Player of the Match awards!
