Weekend Update….
So with spring sort of upon us it’s been nice to see the current bun ☀️ gracing us along with the longer days now that the clocks have gone forward. This weekend saw the re-opening of the Top Lake swims 1-9 and although only 4 anglers fancied their chances, they weren’t disappointed. Simon Vidgeon did a quick 24hr session from Friday evening and landed 4 fish to 22lbs 4oz. A sleepless night for him 🥺 and our very own Tandoori Carper Chirag Patel had a lovely weekend landing a trio of commons up to 24lbs. This shows the Top Lake is producing early after 2 months of disruption with the renovations. Definitely worth getting on Swimbooker to get booked on for a session, I think those fish are hungry and ready for your bait 👀
The other lakes were a little quiet but still produced a few fish. Even our bailiff Rob got on the bank for Friday night and landed a nice mirror from M4 apologies for the mat shot but a lovely fish.
Also congratulations to Andy Hunt landing a lovely 24lb Mirror from B10
Despite the wind and some bitter temperatures, it was a good weekend and a sign of better times to come and the back of winter finally.

So the final weekend of January comes to an end. The weather was kind to the brave anglers taking to the bank. We had 4 on the Top Lake over the weekend with 1 on the Middle and 4 on the Bottom Lake. This time the Top Lake didn’t produce anything spectacular with just a handful of mid doubles gracing the nets.
Returning to Churchgate after a brief spell away Lee has done the past 2 weekends on the Middle Lake with his wife here for moral support. Last weekend he lost a credible 30lber at the net so he came back determined to land his first Churchgate chunk of 2026. He wasn’t disappointed landing a very beautiful 3lb Common. Clearly born here at Churchgate and with lots of potential to become a very big fish one day. But his real delight was when the rod screamed off and he landed a gorgeous 25lb Mirror 🔥 Well done Lee 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
So we go to the Bottom Lake where all the action was happening 👀 Ian and his friend Reece came down for their first session of the year, both landing mid doubles. Ian had a visit from his daughter Millie just at the time the rod went off (his lucky mascot) with a stunning fully scaled Mirror and a lovely photo together. 💕
I save the best until last…..Ben & his son Ted came down for their first session of the year after having to cancel last weekend. Ted was off the mark first with a cracking 23lb Common and bragging his skills to his Dad. But the tide turned starting with a mid double scaled Mirror that was introduced a year ago at 10lbs so showing strong growth 💪🏼 this was nothing compared to what happened Friday night around 9pm. I got a phone call indoors asking to come down and witness a big fish. So I came down to see what he’d caught? Not only a big fish but our first 30lber of 2026 🏆 weighing 31lbs 12oz ❤️ Congratulations Ben a great session and showed young Ted you still have the minerals 😂
So we go again next week and hope to see more of the same. Well done to those that made it out and landed fish, especially Ben 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Great to see Marcel back on the bank after a long time away due to work. He’s always been prolific and yesterday was no different. He landed these 4 and lost one on a quick day session up on the Top Lake. Taking advantage of the front side being full before we drain down to do the renovations. Well done mate good to have you back 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
