I attended a workshop on squatting and lunging, and one of the biggest takeaways was actually what wasn’t discussed.
It wasn’t about chasing the perfect squat.
It wasn’t about forcing everyone into the same position.
And it wasn’t about getting lost in the technical details of depth, lever lengths, femur angles, or trying to make everyone’s movement look identical.
Instead, the focus was on helping people move in the way that works best for their body.
No two people are built the same, so no two squats should look exactly the same either. What matters is finding a movement pattern that is safe, strong, and repeatable for the individual.
Because at the end of the day, squatting isn’t just a gym exercise. It’s sitting down and standing up, climbing stairs, getting off the floor, picking things up, and staying capable as we get older.
At Essentials we are not just trying fit people into a textbook squat.
It’s to help people move better, get stronger, and build confidence in what their body can do.
