R has been swimming with us since he was a baby, so receiving this lovely message from his parents while they’re on holiday, seeing him now as a confident, water-loving 3-year-old, enjoying the water with such confidence and happiness, makes us incredibly proud! 🩵

Those first swimming experiences are about so much more than learning to swim…

At just 6 months old, this little one is already discovering the magic of swimming alongside her mummy. 🥰

Feeling safe, supported, calm and content, with lots of cuddles, smiles and that special one-to-one bond. 💕

Baby swimming is such a beautiful opportunity to spend uninterrupted time together, build trust and confidence, and create those precious memories that last far beyond the pool.

There’s no rush. No pressure. Just gentle experiences, lots of reassurance and enjoying being together in the water. 🫶🏻

Because sometimes the biggest achievements aren’t the things they can do in the water — they’re the moments when they feel completely safe, secure and happy. 💗

Theme of the week - words 🩷

At Baby Squids, we know that while swimming looks like all splashing, kicking, and floating, the words we use in the pool are just as vital as the water itself! 💦

In our baby and preschool lessons, language is doing some heavy lifting behind the scenes. Here’s why words are so essential to early swimming:

🗣️ Building Safety & Trust: Hearing a calm, familiar cue gives little ones predictability. A simple “Georgie, 123, splash!” helps prepare them for the water, turning uncertainty into confidence.

🧠 Boosting Early Language: Linking action words—like kick, reach, blow, and float—with real physical movement builds powerful neural connections between language and motor skills.

🎶 Creating Joyful Connection: Songs and repetitive rhymes turn skill-building into play. Every word of encouragement helps your little squid feel safe, understood, and excited to explore!

This week, our little swimmers are becoming explorers!

We’ll be encouraging them to discover more of the pool, the equipment and what their bodies can do in the water.

Through songs, play and movement, we’ll be working on:

💦 Confidence - exploring the pool at their own pace

👀 Social learning - watching, copying and learning from others

💕 Trust & security - feeling safe to try something new
with their grown-up

🐙 Movement - bigger reaches, jumps, spins and movements through the water

From floats and watering cans to woggles, mirrors and our big mat, there’s lots to explore!

Theme of the week... Welcome! 🩷🩵

We are so excited to welcome our little swimmers (and their grown-ups!) back to the pool from Thursday onwards this week.

Whether it’s your very first lesson or you are joining us after a Summer break; remember that lessons are child-led, with a focus on both child and parent experiences:

🩵The first time they blow a bubble or smile at their
swimming friend.

🩷That moment they feel brave enough to let go of the
side for the very first time.

🩵The transition from a tiny splash to a confident kick or
a big splash in your face.

🩷Or the pride and confidence that comes with the first
independent swim!

At Baby Squids, our ethos has always been to focus on what your child needs. Some days are for high-energy splashing, and others are for simply feeling the water and building trust.
