A great finish to the season for our U14s!
The boys played a playoff game for 3rd place in their division and came away with a fantastic win. With only 10 men, the game was always going to be tough, but once again the team showed incredible determination, worked hard for each other, and never gave up.
A brilliant way to end what has been a fantastic season. Proud of every single player! ⚽👏

Wigan Town Sharks
What a way to end the season. Absolutely brilliant from all of them today. We dominated from the 1st whistle. Sharks started the game brightly and created numerous chances and finally got their reward halfway through the 1st half. Ashton then had a 5 minute spell and got 3 quick goals. We took back control and hit back with 2 before halftime to go in 3-3 at the break.
2nd half was all sharks playing our best football and our final 2 goals are our best of the season.
Xavi played Hendo through 1 on 1 with the keeper but he very unselfishly knocked it around the keeper to Ryan for a tap in. Our last goal must have had at least 7/8 passes involved in it. A superb team goal.
MOTM went to Ryan. Passing machine this lad and had 4/5 assists today.
Goals:
Hendo x4
Grey x1
Xavi x1
Ryan x1
Well done everyone on a fantastic season and what a way to end.

Wigan Town Juniors U8's Raiders Tournament Day Report ⚽🖤❤️
The Raiders took part in their first ever tournament today at the Viridor Community Stadium, and what a brilliant day it turned out to be for this fantastic group of lads. They didn’t quite get the fairytale ending, but they showed heart, teamwork and togetherness from the first whistle to the last. 💪🖤❤️
After strong performances in the group stages, the boys faced a tense penalty shootout in the quarter finals. Every single taker stepped up with confidence, and the Raiders buried five superb penalties, with Casey, Elliott, Zachary, Joshua, George and Noah all getting on the scoresheet today, whether in open play or from the spot. ⚽🔥
Then came the moment that had everyone on their feet, Goalkeeper Elliott pulled off an incredible save in the shootout, sending the Raiders into the semi‑finals and sparking huge celebrations from players, coaches and parents. 🧤✨
The journey ended in the semis against a strong Fiorentina Boys side, but the lads walked off with their heads high. They learned so much from their first taste of tournament football, and they’ll be even hungrier to push on to the next stage when the next competition arrives next month. 🚀
Most importantly, today was about mates playing football together, supporting each other, and enjoying every moment. The photos from the day say it all, smiles, teamwork, and memories that will last a long time. 📸🖤❤️
Well done, Raiders, you did your club proud today. 👏⚽🖤❤️

Raiders vs Runcorn Town
Saturday 25th April
The game started at a frantic pace 😳⚡️, with Runcorn bursting out of the blocks and finding the net twice inside the opening minute. It was a bright start from the visitors, but the Raiders showed brilliant character to respond 💪💙.
Zachary sparked the comeback with a composed finish 🎯, getting the Raiders right back into the contest. Runcorn quickly restored their advantage during a lively opening spell, but the Raiders refused to let the early setback define the game 🔥.
A mix up at the back for Runcorn led to a handball ✋ and the referee pointed to the spot. Elliott stepped up with confidence and smashed the penalty into the top corner 🚀🎯 a brilliant moment that lifted the whole team.
Casey then brought the Raiders level with the first of his brace ⚽️⚽️. His second was a stunning team goal that had parents from both sides applauding 👏🤩. From a short goal kick, Elliott played into Joshua, who held the ball superbly before threading an inch perfect through ball 🎯 to George. George made a fantastic run 🏃♂️💨 and delivered a perfect cross, which Casey met first time with his left foot, a flowing move that left everyone in awe 😮🔥.
Joshua continued to impress throughout the game with strong tackling and clever passing 💥🧠, helping the Raiders build attacks from deep. Elliott, who started the match in goal, made several important saves 🧤 and his distribution continues to improve week on week 📈.
Logan then added his name to the scoresheet with the first of his hat‑trick ⚽️⚽️⚽️, giving the Raiders real momentum heading into half time. After the break he added two more, securing his second hat‑trick in as many weeks, a brilliant achievement and a sign of his growing confidence in front of goal 🔥🙌.
The Raiders finished the match full of energy, teamwork, and determination 💙💛, creating chances, defending bravely, and showing real progress across the pitch.

Match report:
Wigan Town Juniors Jets U12’s v Rainhill United Dons U12’s - AWAY
Saturday 18th April, 2026
After missing last weeks match report (against Glenbuck Juniors Gold) I thought a short reflection back on last weeks game would be appropriate. Apologies to our regular match report readers, your author is now back from eating lots of Easter eggs and generally having rather a good Easter break.
Our Home match on the 11th April against Glenbuck was always going to be difficult one, with many of our players on Easter holidays, a 9-player squad fought valiantly against a well resourced Glenbuck team. Even though the Jets were on the scoresheet first with a brilliant Harrison goal, tired legs would set in and Glenbuck got themselves back into the game and ended up winning on the day. Full credit to all the Jets lads though. They never gave up and ran their hearts out all game. We take that on the chin and keep moving forward.
Special mentions for the game go to Finley Anders who worked tirelessly all game, covering countless meters to track back and defend when needed. An effort that was awarded our first Coaches Player of the match. Secondly, to Reece Aspey who showed great composure on the ball, often making key defensive tackles to keep the scoreline respectable. This earned him the second Coaches player of the match. Well done lads! But also credit to the other 7 players who kept going until the end and remained positive throughout!
On to this weekends game now. The Jets travelled to Rainhill to face Rainhill United Dons. We still had a depleted team but had one substitute to help us refresh tired legs when needed. The first half started with lots of energy from the Jets, finding ourselves firmly parked in the Rainhill half. Lots of great passing movements up field earned us a succession of 3 corners. Harrison delivering 3 lovely crosses into the box. The 3rd attempt fell to Freddie, who managed to get our first shot off at goal but saved by the keeper and out for a fourth corner. This was a great start to the match. The fourth corner was placed dangerously in the box again by Harrison. A short scramble in front of goal and Charlie Lane’s shot was just wide. We were really unlucky not to get a goal here.
Some great link up play from the back starting with Reece to Thomas to Harrison had the Jets in the RH half again. Harrisons cross found Thomas, but his shot was just wide. Unlucky Thomas. Immediately after the goal kick, Jets were pressing again and Harrisons cross from the left-hand side right at goal bundled in after an unfortunate goal keeper error. GOAL
At the restart, Jets quickly won the ball back. Another attacking move from the Jets saw the ball go out for a Jets throw-in. Billy stepped up and threw the ball into the goal area. The ball wasn’t handled well by RH and who was there to take the tap-in .. Harrison again! Well read! GOAL
Our passing continued with real accuracy and pace with loud and clear communication between defence, midfield and attack. With each loss of the ball, the Jets regained possession very quickly. You could see the eagerness to be first to every ball. Reece and Fin in defence were constantly tracking up and down the field with Dylan really commanding the defensive line. Our midfield play looked strong and skilful with Freddie, Thomas, Billy and Charlie Lane flicking the ball around with real intent. It was a feast for the eyes at times and the coaches passed comments about how well we looked. Harrison was all over the pitch, really wanting the ball. Our keeper Charlie was not challenged much but handled every RH attack with calmness. His accuracy at goal kicks was on point during his first half spell in goal.
Every time the Jets had the ball, we looked dangerous going forward. Another attack on goal secured another corner for the Jets. Harrison delivered a wonderful cross goal-bound which hit the upright post. Very cool!
Thomas also had a few more chances in the first half and the coaches could start to see some frustrations building up so the coaches made the call to give him a break for a quick chat. We told Thomas not to worry about any missed chances he may have had, we have seen him score many unbelievable goals in training and in matches, so, if he gets a chance in the second half to shoot, just go for it. Wow! Thomas really took this advice well!
Again, we were passing the ball around very well. Our newest team member Charlie Lane really showing great vision to switch the play from one side to the other to take advantage of the available space with one occasion starting with Reece to Louie to Harrison, to Charlie to Billy who setup Freddie with a sublime pass through the RH defenders. Freddie wasn’t going to miss from there. Wonderful football lads. GOAL
Just before half-time saw a RH attack that was handled well by our keeper Charlie Leary. Charlie then started a lovely sequence of passing that pretty much every player on the field had a foot in. The football went forward, back, left and right, something you dream of seeing as a coach. Each pass executed with intent and accuracy. Finally, the ball sat with Billy who fired an absolute screamer just over the crossbar. Our Jets were beaming with confidence. Wonderful scenes!
Half time
Goal keeper duties exchanged between Charlie Leary and Louie Bimson.
The second half started pretty much at the first ended. The Jets were first to every ball and the confidence was soaring high. It was great to see the lads playing like this.
Our next goal came from lovely midfield play which ended with Billy delivering a delightful cross towards the RH penalty area.. who was there to meet it… Thomas! What a screamer of a goal. He never even looked at goal, just got his head over the ball and thumped it right in the back of the net. Great goal! GOAL
We moved Fin more upfront than usual to give Harrison a break. Fin really stepped up showing some lovely skill, great footwork and good passing/moving. This led to Fin having a shot on goal that was saved, but the defection was picked up again by Fin and he earned himself his first goal for the Jets. Well done Fin! GOAL
With this level of success, it wasn’t a surprise that a little complacency would creep in. This led to a scramble in the Jets goal area and a RH goal. GOAL
The Jets quickly regained their composure on the ball and secured another corner. Fin stepped up this time and found Charlie Lane who passed to Billy. Billy delivered another peach to Thomas who put the ball in the back of the net. GOAL
At the restart, Jets quickly won the ball back with Charlie Leary in defence. His pass to Fin then found Thomas who dribbled the ball skilfully round the RH goal keeper and scored his hattrick! Wow! Great goal and great team effort there. GOAL
The remainder of the second half saw our Jets really expressing themselves. Cool and collected on the ball, moving well into space off the ball and really opening up the RH defence. Our next goal came from a lovely Thomas assist to Harrison who buried the ball in the back of the net. GOAL
Our final goal came from another delightful sequence of passing which found Billy in space. Billy again showing his class on the ball setting up Harrison for his fourth goal of the game. GOAL.
Full time
Coaches reflections:
What a great turnaround for the Jets this week. Even with low numbers again, the lads showed true grit and determination to win the ball. Our passing and moving was on point today. Every single player was outstanding all through the game. We worked hard for each other, tracked back and supported defensive duties when needed – this is sometimes hard when players can smell an opportunity to hold back up front for a scoring opportunity. That’s the spirit we need in all our games. We played like a real team today. Many of our goals coming from a sequence of many passes starting right at the back. This was a real stand-out team performance today. So very well done to all the players today.
Parents player of the match: Thomas Fleming. Very well deserved. Took some of his missed chances to heart in the first half but showed real maturity to believe in himself. This delivered him a hattrick of goals in the second half. Very well done and really made up for him!
Coaches player of the match: We could not pick a single player out today as every one of them deserved it. We therefore asked the opposition coach to nominate their player of the match. This went to Harrison Cartwright. He showed real determination and channelled aggression when needed. Passed the ball well, delivered some great corners and scored 4 goals. Well done!
