Wigan RUFC are looking for a new Juniors Fixtures Secretary to join our fantastic team🏉

This is a key role that helps keep our junior section running smoothly, from arranging fixtures and managing schedules to liaising with opposition clubs and coaches throughout the season. Full mentoring and support will be provided by the outgoing Junior Fixtures Secretary, making it a great opportunity for someone looking to get involved behind the scenes at the club.

Responsibilities include:
• Arranging fixtures for the following season with other clubs via a fixtures secretary Whatsapp group.
• Maintaining a fixtures spreadsheet and keeping coaches updated weekly regarding upcoming fixtures.
• Organising replacement fixtures when cancellations occur.
• Managing kick-off times and pitch allocations to ensure numbers are manageable.
• Keep Junior Chairman and bar/catering manager up to date with fixtures and numbers.
• Confirm fixtures with opposition every week and exchange coaches contact details.

If you’d like to support grassroots rugby and make a real difference to our thriving junior section, we’d love to hear from you.

📞Please contact Matt on 07864 143769 if you are interested or have any questions!

The Brian Leigh Lancashire Trophy Final🏉

The 1XV are back in action this Saturday as they face Warrington RUFC in the final at Bolton, looking to build on last weekend’s result and finish the season on a high.

It’s not too far to travel, so if you can make it, get down and get behind the lads — your support will make a big difference on the day.

Wigan RUFC 1XV secure league survival in dramatic fashion! 💥🏉

After an even opening, Aspull took control early, capitalising on penalties to build a 13-0 lead. But Wigan showed real composure, battling back to edge ahead 17-16 by half time.

The second half was a tense defensive battle, with both sides trading penalties and the lead changing hands. With time almost up and Wigan trailing 24-22, a crucial penalty was awarded—right in front of the posts, but from serious distance.

Step forward Sam Carleton… who struck it beautifully and coolly slotted it between the sticks to seal a huge 25-24 victory when it mattered most! 🙌

League survival secured—and our close rivals relegated! 👊

Attention now turns to next week’s massive clash against Warrington RUFC, with the Brian Leigh Lancashire Trophy up for grabs at Bolton RUFC.

Get down and support the boys! 🖤🏉🐷🤍
