🏉 U8s Match Report 🏉

This weekend, we were delighted to welcome Orrell St James and Chorley Panthers to the Bulldogs for a fantastic morning of rugby!

It was at times a tough outing for our U8s, but there were plenty of positives to take away and lots to be proud of!

The players showed great determination throughout and, despite facing strong opposition, there were some excellent passages of play where the team really put into practice what we’ve been working on in training.

The support play was particularly pleasing to see, with players looking for teammates, working together and showing a growing understanding of how important teamwork is in rugby. There were some fantastic individual moments, but what stood out most was the willingness of the whole squad to support one another, communicate and keep battling until the final whistle.

As always, there is plenty for us to work on and improve, and that’s all part of the learning process at this age. The players continue to learn every week, and it was great to see so many of the skills and ideas from training starting to appear in match situations.

A huge well done to all the players for their effort, commitment and team spirit, and thank you to Orrell St James and Chorley Panthers for some competitive, enjoyable rugby played in the right spirit. We look forward to seeing you again soon 🏉

🟡⚫️ Under 12s Match Report 🟡⚫️

Wigan Bulldogs U12s ‘vs’ Haresfinch
Plate Quarter Final.

Unfortunately the Bulldogs did not get the win today but a loss by 22-20 is no shame!

Last time we came up against Haresfinch the scoreline was much bigger but this just goes to show the attitude and effort the lads have put into their training and the coming together as a team.

Today there is no doubt about the lads effort and attitude, all game they gave it their all in both attack and defence.

There were some brilliant hard drives by our props, second rows and 13. Great quick speed sets by our backs and some lovely hands across the line spreading the play and opening up the gaps.

Defensively the Bulldogs worked as a team, tackling hard and fair, trying to control the ruck and some great scrambling defence.

Unfortunately it wasn’t our day and fair play to Haresfinch for the win, we wish you all the best of luck in the next round👏.

Some decisions went against the lads today but the coaches are proud of them, maintaining their attitude, not letting this get to them and most importantly picking their team mates up👏.

The first Wigan Bulldogs Girls team session was an absolute success!

All girls that had great fun learning rugby, making new friends and all gave it their all! 💪

Same again next week with a special guest coming from the Wigan Warriors Women’s team!

All session are free so get down and come join in on the fun!

Since we first posted this U7’s have added 5 players, how great is that?! They’re now playing regular matches and growing week by week. 💪

The Under 11’s have added three new players too, making a great group even greater!

Existing volunteers and parents, can you help out? We’re looking for a new Junior Secretary. The incumbent will remain in the role until mid-July at the latest so the new Junior Secretary will receive a full and comprehensive handover!
