It was a hot one down at laithwaite park so it was important that we kept the ball and make sevenbrooks work hard to get it, and the 1st 20 that’s just what we did but also scoring 3 goals in that 20!

The 1st one came from marksman Jamie Kearsley a driving run down the right by Jacob who whipped in a low cross and Kearsley got across the defender at the front post to fire into the roof of the net.

The 2nd followed shortly after Stan in right back Jonny Halliwell with a 50 yard diagonal ping out to the left which found Callum Tarbuck with a sublime 1st touch around the defender left only one thing on his mind and that was to shoot and shoot he did hitting the far bottom corner leaving the keeper no chance.

We was then awarded a penalty to go 3 ahead and up stepped Sinno who wanted to make amends from last weeks penalty miss and he did just that sending the keeper the wrong way. It could of been 4 shortly after with a Ben Lee Nicholson driving into the sevenbrooks box (don’t know where his pace came from) and he unselfishly squared the ball to Cam Hendley and with the goal at his mercy somehow missed a open goal and put it wide 🤦🏻 cam then contributed again but This time giving away a penalty which allowed sevenbrooks to get one back.

2nd half started just like the first with us dominating the ball but sevenbrooks worked hard and stopped us creating many openings. But we kept plugging away and a 4th goal arrived on the hour mark, a ball in over the sevenbrooks back line which Kearsley latched onto and rounded the keeper but the retreating defender managed to get back but couldn’t quite do enough to stop Kearsley from getting a 2nd (it’s still with the goals panel to weather it’s a OG or not)

New signing Jayden Deakin rounded off the goals for today as he stepped up to take a free kick 25 yards from goal and nestled it into the bottom corner, todays man of the match goes to Jamie Kearsley.

Today we welcome sevenbrooks to laithwaite park! Hoping to make it 3 wins from the last 3 💪 with the season only 2 weeks away preparation and minutes for lads are key today 🍒🍒

Leagues are out we will be competing in the top division of the Wigan ammy league 💪💪

Another improved and impressive performance that’s 2 wins from 3 games now, today we welcomed Ince central to laithwaite park looking to build on last weeks 7-1 win.

4 debutants in the squad all of who impressed 2 on the scoresheet and a assist for another. We started the game as we meant to go on controlling the ball and controlling the possession making Ince do a lot of running on a big pitch and in the heat it was hard work for them! After creating 2-3 good chances early on with no avail we kept plugging away knowing a goal wasn’t far away. That goal came from Brad Parkinson after Cam Hendley dropped deep to pick up the ball and plays in Brad who cut inside 2 defenders and neatly slotted home.

A 2nd followed shortly after, this time it was cam on the score sheet a scramble from a corner seen the ball fall to cam who composed himself and fired into the far corner. We could have made it 3 before the break with a penalty just before the half time whistle but Baz Burn only managed to fire over and hit a passing seagull.

3 changes at the break swapping all of the front 3, we didn’t start the half great with a early penalty being awarded to Ince and following the award of the penalty we went down to 10 with a sin bin, Ince scored the penalty and made it 2-1 and also got a quick equaliser soon after. With 11 back on the field we took back control of the game and again a goal soon followed Arron Sinnott picking up the ball in to 10 and with a lovely reverse pass found Jamie Kearsley who slotted into the far corner.

The floodgates opened after that and another 3 goals soon followed, first from debutant Shiraz Perviaz assisted by another debutant in Jayden Deakin Jayden found space out on the the right and the cross found Shiraz unmarked who volleyed home a 4th.
New left back Jacob also got on the scoresheet after a well delivered corner which found the head of Ben Lee Nicholson who nearly made it 3 from 3 from centre half but only the crossbar could deny him Jacob was there to pick up the pieces and loop one over the retreating defenders head. Shiraz rounded of the goals for today with his 2nd of the game after Alfie turners pinpoint cross found the head of Shiraz who nodded home his 2nd and our 6th!

There where multiple candidates for todays man of the match but today it goes to Brad Parkinson for a wonderful 1st half display!

Training Wednesday 7-8 at laithwaite park anybody fancies it get yourselves down

It’s game day no3!!! After losing a disappointing open friendly after looking lethargic and a little bit all over the place which can be expected with it being the first game back! We turned it around on Matchday no2 coming out 7-1 winners with a miles better performance looking more sharper and more clinical with some nice football being played at times. Today we look to continue that as we host ince at laithwaite park. We take a squad of 17 today including 3-4 new lads down who will hopefully be looking to impress as we are 3 weeks out from the season now and with 3-4 lads missing today hopefully come 17th of August I get the headache of choosing a 16 nevermind just a starting 11. 🍒🍒

Grassroots football is dying 🥲 teams are struggling with costs of pitch fees, league fees, insurance, 4g hire for winter training the list could go on! All them costs and more are for teams already established. For teams like ourselves before we even get that far we need to start at the bottom firstly with a kit to play in!! We currently have 20 lads rating and ready to go for the new season, we are on all platforms of social media and we are looking for a local business who would be kind enough to get us started by sponsoring us for a football kit the cost of this is roughly around £400 🥲 in return for your sponsor you will get a weekly mention (tag if your business is on social media) in our match reports, your business name and logo will be on our match shirts that many, many people will see every week, we have 20 lads that will recommend your business to friends, family etc if there’s a job needs doing that you can cover that alone with 20 lads will branch out to 100s of people and get yourself more work, most importantly you would be helping a small local football team to play the game many people love ❤️ please share away and tag anyone that may be able to help

Upon reflection As the season comes to a close it’s been a long, tough and challangin one 😅 but there’s no time like the present to start looking forward to the next one. CHERRYBROOK FC are recruiting!!! We are a team based in Wigan and will be playing our home games from laithwaite park which is arguably now one of the best facilities in the north west with 2 brand new 4g pitches and 3 grass pitches which have also had a lot of money spent on them for the upcoming season!! We will be playing in the Wigan and district amateur league in which for ourselves we will be hopefully chasing silverware, so if your getting bored of where your playing and looking for a new challange or your looking to get back into playing and want to play on the best pitches then look no further 👀 we already have a core of 16-17 top lads but looking to add more numbers! 2 special awards for one for Adam topping who has caused more drama than the eastenders cast so he walked away with biggest stirrer of the year and Anthony holt who without this man on a Saturday afternoon the pitch would of been unplayable due to dogs**t on the pitch so he walked away with best s**t picker of the year 23/24 trophy and 100 new dog poo bags for next year 💩
