Match Report
Billinge ๐ธ๐ฟ v ๐ช๐ชWigan Junior Latics
Wigan Junior Latics delivered a commanding end of season performance against Billinge, in an exciting match characterised by skillful play and tenacity from both sides.
The game began with Wigan taking control of the tempo, as Billinge struggled to live with their pace and power. Midway through the first half, the blues broke the deadlock when Michael finished off a great move. After an impressive run down the right side by James, he found Michael, who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
Wigan continued to threaten with efforts from Rory, Rose, and James, all trying to further their advantage but falling short against a determined Billinge defence. Finley, Jacob, and Noah showcased their midfield tenacity, continually pressing the opposition and disrupting their play. At the back, Theo, Freddie, and Jake presented a solid defensive line, while goalkeeper Clark demonstrated quick reflexes and good distribution, transitioning from defense to offense effectively.
The second half saw Wigan elevate their performance, promptly taking charge of the game. Jacob provided a crucial pass out to James, who began terrorising the Billinge defence again. A defensive lapse then allowed Michael to seize the opportunity to score his second goal, finishing with calm precision. Just moments later, Michael completed his hat trick, turning in from a corner delivered by James.
Billinge showed resilience and fought back, making a contest of the fixture.
The response from the visitors was immediate and decisive; a well-coordinated move highlighted by slick passing from Finley and Jacob allowed Rory to find Rose, who cut inside on her left to fire another Wigan goal.
From the resulting kick off Noah quickly won the ball in midfield, and released Rory, only to see his low drilled effort flash past the post.
Despite Billinge's continued efforts, Wigan continued to press and Jamesโ cross picked out Jake in the box who smashed home.
In summary, Latics displayed impressive creativity, teamwork, and determination throughout the match, finishing the season on a high.

Match Report: ๐ช๐ชWigan JL vs Whiston ๐ฆ๐น 29/93/2025
Wigan started brightly and thought they had taken an early lead when Jacobโs low strike was spilled by the Whiston keeper, but despite celebrations, the referee ruled the ball hadnโt crossed the line. Rory and Michael then forced good low saves from the Whiston goalkeeper as Wigan pushed forward. Defensively, Theo, Freddie, and Jake handled most of Whistonโs early threats well, with Clark making some excellent saves to keep the game level. Rose, Finley, and Noah worked tirelessly in midfield, but late first-half goals saw Whiston on the scoresheet.
The second half began with Wigan on the front foot. Roseโs driving run down the right wing led to a dangerous cross that narrowly missed being turned in. However, Whiston responded strongly and Wigan never recovered, despite nearly pulling one back when Michaelโs effort struck the post after some neat build-up play involving Jake, Jacob, Rose, and Rory.
As Wigan pressed to get back into the game, Whiston capitalized on some sloppy passing and unfortunate bounces to punish the home side with clinical finishing. Despite numerous heroic saves by Clark, the visitors attack proved too strong, with Whiston going home the happier team.
