It was year five's turn to complete their map-focussed session today when St. Mary's Catholic Primary school children joined us.

They made fantastic progress throughout the day and left with the ability to read 6 figure grid references.

Year 4 from St. Mary's Catholic Primary School enjoyed their day focused on maps.

They managed to work out what the symbols on our Stocks Wood map meant and used compass directions to move around the woodland.

In the afternoon they used 4 figure grid references to locate objects in the woodland. What a busy day, completed with celebratory marshmallows!

Year 3 from St. Mary's Catholic Primary School joined us today to work on their mapping skills.

The children were great at following instructions and learned how to use a map's key as well as using compass directions.

They were introduced to 4 figure grid references and enjoyed time to play in the woodland and toast marshmallows.

Our last session of the summer was a fab one!

The sun was out and lots of families enjoyed spending quality time together in our woodland.

A shy great diving beetle was found. It clearly didn't like the sunshine - zooming to hide under the leaves in the dipping tray.

Lots of spotty ladybirds were created and some natural photo frames were lashed together.

We'll be back with more family forest fun sessions during October half term.
