Most golfers scoop because they can’t feel what a descending strike actually is. This drill makes it impossible to get wrong.

Place a wedge behind the ball to set your angle, then chip over it and brush the coin on the floor.

✅ The wedge gives you a physical reference for the correct attack angle - your body learns it faster than any verbal cue can teach it.
✅ Brushing the coin confirms you’re striking down and through - if you scoop, you miss it completely.
✅ No extra equipment, no range session needed - you can do this on your living room carpet tonight.

If your lead hand is clenched tight at impact, you are physically stopping the club from releasing - and that tension is exactly what creates the chicken wing.

The fix is a throwing action through the ball, but it only works if the lead hand has enough softness to let it happen.

✅ Soften the lead hand grip - this allows the forearms to rotate freely instead of blocking at impact
✅ Focus on the throwing action - this drives clubhead speed through the zone rather than decelerating into it
✅ Let the face release properly - this squares the face without the compensations that cost you distance

Most golfers try to fix the chicken wing by moving their elbow. The real cause is further up the chain.

Most golfers think a sway is a hip problem. It’s actually a knee problem - and fixing it changes everything from the top down.

When the trail knee pushes outward in the backswing, your pressure rolls to the outside of the foot and your whole pivot collapses before you’ve even started down.

The fix is simpler than you’d expect:

✅ Feel the right glute turn back and behind you - this keeps the knee tracking inward rather than flaring out
✅ Pressure stays on the inside of the trail foot - this gives you a stable base to push from at the start of the downswing
✅ A centred pivot makes the transition almost automatic - getting ahead of the ball becomes the natural result, not something you have to force

📩 Send this to your playing partner who sways off the ball and wonders why their contact is so inconsistent.

Most golfers try to fix their slice by changing their grip. The real problem is the path the club is travelling on before it even reaches the ball.

One alignment stick through a range bucket changes everything.

✅ Stick set at an angle over the ball - this gives you instant feedback on whether your club is attacking from the outside
✅ If you clip the stick, you’re coming over the top - the drill removes any guesswork about your swing path
✅ Think about curling a football - this image naturally encourages the inside-out arc that takes the slice away

The swing thought isn’t technical. It’s a feeling. Get that feeling right and the ball flight follows.

If you keep hitting it low and left, your takeaway is the first place to look.

Most golfers who struggle with a hook aren’t doing anything wrong at impact. The problem starts the moment the club moves away from the ball.

When the face stays closed and hooded on the takeaway, it’s almost impossible to square it up without overcooking the rotation through the ball.

Here’s what to check:

✅ Feel the face rotate open as you move away
✅ Toe of the club pointing to 11–12 o’clock when the shaft is parallel to the ground
✅ No hooding, no rolling the face shut early

One simple checkpoint on the way back can completely change your ball flight.

Most golfers use the same angle of attack for every iron. That’s why your ball striking is inconsistent.

Your angle of attack should change depending on which iron you’re hitting.

A wedge needs a steep, descending blow into the turf. A 5 iron needs a much shallower approach through the ball.

I use three tee pegs pressed into the ground at different angles to show this visually:

✅ Steep angle for your wedge
✅ Mid angle for your 8 iron
✅ Shallow angle for your 5 iron

Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. And your strikes will tell you immediately if you’ve got it right.

If you’re scooping your fairway woods or catching them thin, this is the video you need.

The fairway wood is not a driver. But it’s not an iron either. The strike needs to feel like a brush, not a dig, and definitely not a scoop.

Here’s what to focus on:

✅ Ball first, ground second, every time
✅ Use the sole of the club, let it glide through
✅ Place a tee just in front of the ball and hit ball then tee
✅ Trust the loft to get it airborne, your job is to drive forward

That tee drill is the key. It moves your focus forward and naturally encourages the right contact point without you having to think about mechanics.

Stop trying to lift it. The loft does that work for you.

If you’re slicing the ball, your arms are probably the problem — not your grip, not your stance.

Most golfers think acceleration means pulling the arms harder through impact. It doesn’t.

When your arms keep dragging forward, the clubhead never gets a chance to release. The face stays open. The ball goes right. Every time.

Think about swinging a hammer into a wall.

✅ Your arms have to slow down to let the hammer do the work
✅ If they keep going, you smash your hands into the wall
✅ Same principle applies at impact — decelerate the arms, release the head

That’s how the face squares. That’s how you start hitting the ball the way you know you can.

If you’re still slicing your driver, the problem isn’t your swing path. It’s when you’re squaring the face.

Most golfers try to rescue the shot at impact with a late flick. By then, it’s already too late.

This drill uses a second ball placed 3 feet behind your ball to rehearse the release earlier in the downswing.

✅ Square the face before impact, not at it
✅ Release the right arm through the rehearsal ball
✅ Rotate and finish without manipulating the club

When the work gets done early, you stop flipping and start hitting long, straight drives.
