Ghana sat in a low block, but England kept players high at all costs. There was no attempt to draw Ghana out, stretch the block or manipulate their shape to create bigger spaces to exploit.
Instead, England tried to play through micro spaces against a compact and very physical side. It became crowded, predictable and exactly the type of game Ghana wanted.
The irony is England have players like Cole Palmer, Phil Foden and Kobbie Mainoo who are masters of managing tight spaces.

A drill doesn't need to be complicated to develop top players.
Today's focus was on
✅ First touch
✅ Movement after the pass
✅ Receiving on the back foot
✅ Weight and accuracy of pass
✅ Awareness and timing of runs
Lots of touches, constant decision making and plenty of repetition. Master the basics and the game becomes much easier. ❤️🖤

🏆 Tournament Day Done Right 🏆
Massive thank you to the team at Vulcan for putting on a top tournament today. ☀️⚽
With 13 teams, a 7 aside format, and 12 minute games, it was a brilliant day of football from start to finish. The weather was absolutely booming too, which always makes the day even better.
We decided to split our full squad into two teams, ensuring plenty of game time and opportunities for every player to express themselves and gain valuable match experience.
The boys certainly didn't disappoint...
Both teams made it all the way to the semi finals and ended up facing each other! 😂👏
The best part? Before a ball was kicked, all of the lads knew one thing for certain... They were guaranteed a place in the final either way.
A fantastic day, great attitudes throughout, and plenty of memories made. Football is all about giving players opportunities to play, learn, compete, and enjoy the game and today ticked every box. 💪🦂❤️🖤
