It sounds obvious. But designing a structure for winter isn't simply about taking something that works in summer and adding sides and heaters.

These are all things that can influence the structure, configuration and finish we'd recommend.

Because the aim isn't simply to create cover.

It's to create a space that looks good, works properly and feels like somewhere people actually want to be — whatever the weather is doing outside.

Back at the AIG Women’s Open this summer, this time at Royal Lytham & St Annes for the 50th edition of the Championship.

Across the site, we delivered four structures for a variety of guest spaces:

It might be the height of summer, but now is exactly when many experienced event organisers start planning for winter (if they've not already started that is!)

Why? Because great winter events are rarely the result of last-minute decisions.

The earlier you start, the more options you have, the fewer compromises you'll make, and the smoother delivery is likely to be.

Event organisers: When was the last time you walked your site from the guest's perspective?

➡️ Where do people arrive?
➡️ What do they see first?
➡️ Is the flow intuitive?
➡️ Are there pinch points?
➡️ Does the space feel welcoming?

Sometimes, small changes in layout make the biggest difference.

Because great event spaces don't just look good. They work practically too.

When we plan a temporary structure, we’ll often produce CAD plans and renders so you can do exactly that, well ahead of build. Why? To make sure everything works just as you need it to.

Planning a winter event? The best winter events often start taking shape while it's still sunny outside.
Before you start to request quotes, make sure you ask these questions…

✅ Have we considered heating and power requirements?
✅ Will guest flow change if people naturally gather indoors?
✅ Is the flooring suitable for winter conditions?
✅ Have we allowed for shorter build days?
✅ Have we spoken to key suppliers early enough?

The earlier these conversations happen, the more options you'll have. This means more flexibility. More choice. Fewer compromises.

If winter is on your radar, now's the time to start planning.
