Everything changes all the time. Sometimes the things you want and often the things you don’t. The ones you hold on to the most. Classes have changed so much over the past 2 years, I have been feeling pretty nostalgic the past few days and get this feeling like the ghosts of students past are visiting me. Then I receive this. Naomi was one of the first people I taught in Wi******er nearly 15 years ago, then she moved. Only she’s still with me and it turns out I’m still with her. Our hearts are everywhere irrespective of time and distance ❤️

Trains of thought can take you anywhere, miles and miles away. I remember my Drama teacher at school saying I was wistful. I thought it was just a way of telling me I was day dreaming but it’s turns out it’s true meaning is ‘having or showing a feeling of vague or regretful longing’ … Oh 👀

I am often plagued by indecisiveness. It drives me mad, so many things that could be done. Or getting so far and then making a UTurn. Once the decision is made I commit that’s no problem. Just making the actual decision. Anyone else?
Currently organising workshops is super tricky, venues are quite often not available or trying to raise prices. It’s frustrating. But I’m desperate to keep teaching regular Yamuna workshops. The Wi******er Tennis club has helped me out a number of times over the last 6 months and I value them enormously. For May I’m trialling a couple of Sunday Yamuna workshops. So if Sunday mornings are for you, you need to feel your body move, stretch and align again here is what I have in store. More details on each to follow on separate posts.

(Your own Faceballs are required)
⭐️Sunday 22nd May 11 - 1

Time races by so quickly and as the means of communicating multiply by the minute I find I’m actually getting worse at communicating, almost as if everything gets a little blurry.
I haven’t been able to write a newsletter or formulate words in my head or on paper for what feels like months. It’s like a creative hiatus from being able to formulate your own thoughts coherently.
So news in brief is that classes have a little snooze over the school Easter holidays with classes resuming the week of Monday 24th April. There is however Pregnancy Yoga at 6.30pm and regular Yoga tomorrow night at The Arc Wi******er at 7.45pm. Booking is via my website on linktree.
Yamuna dates for forthcoming workshops will hopefully be announced soon. Venue pending. But amazing news in that I have a date for our next Tuesday retreat day at Gambledown Farm and it falls on Mid Summers Day. So expect something very special indeed ☀️

Over the course of the past 2 years when we spent so long on Zoom I created a 4 week Focused series of Mummy and Baby classes and I thought it would be good to share these practices in person. In this 4 week series we cover the key exercises that focus on the corner stones to healing after pregnancy and birth and also meeting the development milestones and precious interaction with our babies. Here is an outline of the series …
MummyFocus Week 1-4
1.Pelvic Floor Restoration
2.Abdominal Connect
3.Upper back/neck/ shoulder tension tamers
4.Lower backs/legs - strength and tone
BabyFocus - Week 1-4
1. Vestibular - actively stimulating the vestibular system to develop baby’s coordination and motor sensory skills - rolling, swinging tumbling.
2.Digestive - to help reduce discomfort from colic, wind and constipation.
3. Balance, co-ordination and motor skills
4.Sleep cues
This series starts on Wednesday 16th March and runs for 4 weeks until the 6th April 11 - 12 Noon. Class is in Central Wi******er at The Holy Trinity Church Hall on Upper Brook Street. Prices will vary depending on when you book …
Straight Up Founding Mothers - First 8 places all 4 sessions £34
https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=14523449&appointmentType=31233209
Booking as I go Week by Week Limited Places - £11 per session (recording to accompany each session)
https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=14523449&appointmentType=31233627
The series will be accompanied with 4 recordings of the classes so you can practice at home any time as well as a series of hand drawn key elemental exercises to follow at home.
If you would like to learn more about class please visit the website http://www.gemmanashyoga.com which also has pictures from our group showing how we practice with babies on our mat and in our arms. Class is suitable from 6-8 weeks (with doctors permission post C Section) and up to crawling.
Or ask me anything anytime. I have been teaching Yoga since 2003 and Mummy and Baby classes since 2006. This means I incorporate my extensive Yoga background and practice in to classes, as well as my detailed study of the pre and post partum body and movement practices in to a suitable and sustainable practice. It’s a wild ride, but the most wonderful class to see everyone bonding together with one another and most importantly with their babies. Please feel free to share and pass on to anyone who may be interested. We possibly may include some Yamuna Body Rolling routines too :-)

Without fail every January I start mentally planning my relocation to Ibiza. Without fail by Spring I’ve forgotten all about it. To stop my wayward mind travelling to beautiful sunny beaches and barefoot wanderings on tropical islands I have to wrestle my head in to the present. No gloom. There is newness to be found in even the most repetitive of tasks and/or surroundings. Every in breath we take is new, each day is new, there is new to be found. So when I find my self in a cycle of repetition that’s not going anywhere I reroute myself and try to find a new direction or a new approach. So when I catch myself in the same thought patterns, same timing habits, same reactions etc I am trying something new and ushering the others out the door 👋🏼

When I was little my dad organised road races and ran marathons and I used to (forcibly) run in small events he did for children. There would be articles in the Hampshire Chronicle or Wi******er Echo and photo ops where (forcibly) my mum would put my hair in pigtails and I’d stand with the real star of the show. One time it was with a cheetah cub at Marwell Zoo and sometimes with the Mayor and often with this incredible woman, Madge Sharples. A legendary woman of Wi******er who started running marathons in her late 60s and continued towards her 80s. She did Yoga according to my dad, and always said ‘hellooo dear’ when she saw me. I remember her always smiling and always running. The I❤️NY T-shirt was a returning home gift from my dad running the New York Marathon. I didn’t adopt the love of running but I will never ever forget Madge and her passion and endeavour 👑
