Managing your blood sugar levels through your diet is where I often start with clients. As well as helping to manage weight, energy and balance hormones, it is also involved in your risk of Alzheimers Disease.

Limiting blood sugar spikes is cognitively protective, according to new research. Using the UK Biobank, researchers showed that people with higher post-meal blood sugar had a 69% greater risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. The KetoFLEX 12/3 diet helps prevent blood sugar spikes, and this is just one way KetoFLEX 12/3 optimally protects cognition. https://www.news-medical.net/news/20260114/Post-meal-blood-sugar-spikes-linked-to-increased-Alzheimers-risk.aspx

Alzheimer’s disease is something many of us have seen affect a parent or grandparent, and it can feel like one of the most daunting challenges of ageing.

But what if prevention, and even reversal, might actually be possible? 🧠

Today's guest believes that with early testing, the right nutrition, movement, and sleep, it may be possible to halt or even reverse the process long before symptoms appear.

I’m delighted to welcome Dr Dale Bredesen to my Feel Better, Live More podcast, it's a conversation I’ve been looking forward to for many years.

Dale is an internationally recognised expert in neurodegenerative disease whose research is guided by a powerful idea: Alzheimer’s is not just preventable. It can, in some cases, be reversed.

In this episode, we explore:
👉🏾 Why Alzheimer’s is the result of multiple systems in the body becoming imbalanced
👉🏾 The four stages of cognitive decline
👉🏾 The role of genetics in dementia risk
👉🏾 How inflammation, toxins and energy deficits contribute to brain decline
👉🏾 The seven key lifestyle factors that can protect and optimise brain health at any age
👉🏾 Real-life case studies of people who’ve improved, even those in early stages of dementia

As Dr Bredesen explains, there’s so much we can do to reduce our risk, support our brain health, and hold onto the connections and memories that matter most.

You can now hear our full conversation in episode 592 of my Feel Better, Live More podcast. 06/11/2025

Alzheimers is becoming optional - if you make changes early. If you'd like to know where to get more info, books etc, I'm happy to pass it on.

New research shows that two prebiotics can improve cognitive scores in older adults. The prebiotics changed participants’ gut microbiome composition, increasing the amount of Bifidobacteria, which has also previously been shown to reduce cognitive deficits in mice.

The KetoFLEX 12/3 diet is also a natural way to improve your gut microbiome, while providing for metabolic flexibility. You can learn more about that here: https://ketoflex.apollohealthco.com/

Contrary to public perception, Alzheimer’s is not solely an old-timer’s disease. Cognitive changes associated with Alzheimer’s have now been observed as early as age 24, emphasizing that, regardless of your age, a proactive preventive plan is essential. Please, for anyone who is 35 or over, get evaluated and begin active prevention—let’s all make Alzheimer’s a rare disease. https://neurosciencenews.com/early-alzheimers-24-neurology-28678/
