A big well done to James Temple (C, 09-14) for having won his time trial at GB final trials. We wish him all the best for his semis and final!

Bedford Regatta was excellent, our first whole club summer regatta. Shout out to Mr Maliszewski and Ollie Le May who had quite a long day, from 5:30 leave and back in Wi******er by 00:30.

We had some incredible racing, the J14 1st 4x won their event, beating Borlase in the final, I was there at the start and Orazio (the first year cox) out shouted the opposition cox by a factor of about 5 to 1. Then the J14 8x lost out to St Paul's by a foot, an unbelievably close result and really encouraging that they've taken up the Wi******er tradition of taking on the big dogs undaunted and at the least bloodying their noses.

Speaking of big dogs the 1st 8+ won Elite Eights, beating Oriel College Oxford in the final, they were head of the river this year and seemed pretty confident at the start, they definitely were not afraid to give it some chat. But that just ended up adding fuel to Mr Peters' in race encouragement, and it was all water under the bridge when we shook hands at the end.

J18 8+ started with a strong win over the Oratory, with really good unity in the boat and buckets of rhythm. They were met in the final by an impressive Windsor boys 8 and lost after a hard fight.

J15s put out two competitive crews in both the 8+ and 4x categories but unfortunately met stiff competition in their opening rounds.

As always Coach P is on the Twitter, check it out at .

Thank you to all the support we got from parents, food was awesome as always. I'll attached photos below, any more would be welcome.

WCBC has had another great trip to Figueria Da Foz, Portugal for our Easter training camp.

We got in some very good training, racking up the mileage with two days spent on the river and then lots of high intensity pieces work for out five days on the lake. Incredible progress was made by all, this camp really makes a difference getting every year group ready for the regatta session.

We have high hopes this year, turning out a promising first year oct and a competitive second year eight, the top squad has been going from strength to strength and will be fielding a very dangerous first eight as well as many competitive boats as possible over the next 10 weeks.

We'd like to thank Duncan from Go Figueira for all the in country support and Mr Maliszewskii and his team of coaches for organising such a great trip.

The held up enough for us to make some serious in our quest for . For more on that front and future updates head over to our twitter page .

Attached are some photos and the events fixtures list for next term. The trip camera was dropped in the lake by a certain first eight cox which is either sad or fortunate depending upon who you are.

Iain Vellacott has very kindly sent us a picture of a painting he has just completed of an VIII rowing under Tunbridge last summer which will be included in his exhibition at this year's Wi******er Match. (K,73-78).

His website is: www.inoils.com where you can find other examples of his work around Wi******er and down by the river.

Judging by the Lykras, Harry's life jacket, my red cap and three's late catch this would be last year's Henley eight.

The boat club has had some very good results this weekend at the February Junior GB trials. On the Saturday we had pairs place 10th, 13th and 18th, and on the Sunday we had 9th, 13th and 40th, out of 55 pairs. These results put Wi******er as the school with the 3rd most pairs in the top 20, behind Westminster and St. Paul's.

Results from Hampton head
J14 oct-3rd
J18 pairs-1st, 2nd, 3rd

Good luck to our four J18 GB trialists. Hugo Durward, Alex Wythe, Tobias Schroder and Dent Goodman will be travelling up to Boston (sadly not in Massachusetts) for the first water test of the GB system. It's a 5km race in small boats, all four will be racing in singles, on Saturday. They all have a very good shot and it is exceptional for Wi******er to be sending so many rowers to trials.

Wow! What a week this has been! Yesterday was absolutely amazing, so happy for the guys. They pulled out one hell of a performance and were rewarded with a more than well deserved second place at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia. We are very excited for what the future holds. Huge thanks have got to go to the host families. Without their unending generosity this trip would not have been possible. Becca Genyk, please pass on the message to the rest. We can't thank you enough. Currently on the way to NYC as a post race 'culture' trip, surrounded by smiles from Boaties!
