Motivational Monday!
If you’re not fired up from yesterday … you should be. What a feat of human performance!
When Roger Bannister wanted to break the 4 min/mile barrier, people said it was impossible. Yet he did it!
Before 2016 (NOT 2017 🤦♂️) the 500kg deadlift was a mythical creature. The BEAST ( ) solved that.
just ran a 01:59:30 London Marathon, that’s a 4:33min/mile (2:50min/km) pace for 26.2 miles!
Apologies for the savage meme 😅 to come in under the previous world record and not take the win is mental 🤯 and on your marathon debut … WHAT?!?
The point being, genetics aside, all these individuals started somewhere and had the discipline to continue 💪🏻
Discipline over motivation:
Motivation gets you started.
Discipline keeps you going.
Structure builds the discipline.
If you need help with either of these three components, drop me a DM and let’s have a chat 💪🏼

On this beautiful sunny Wednesday, you’ve got to take the little wins!
Today’s little win! Despite training being far from optimal at present (various reasons) and certainly not speed focused … April brings the need for an SCA (Soldier Conditioning Assessment).
Sat at 97kg (about 5kg heavier than what I find optimal) and certainly no where near a ‘competition/influencer’ physique but I train for performance across the board not looks, I want to be able to say yes to whatever challenge presents itself and show the boys the importance of being physically fit.
The current aim was meant to be ultra running (although you’d never know it looking at my Strava recently 😅) but still despite the above, managed to hit a 7:20 2km (pretty decent for me), 110kg DL for 10 (max), hit 12.5 strict pull ups (PTI gave 13 but I can only take half for the last rep really), push ups maybe need some work at 46 strict within the minute 😅
All followed by an afternoon walk with the family in the sun, after a Josie’s Biscoff milkshake (IYKYK) and proceeding a cider in the bear garden and a pizza with Mads and the boys!
What a win of an afternoon!
Liked up at the start line, the demos crept in, ‘I’m not training enough’, ‘anything under 8mins will be acceptable’ etc etc and that’s the pride that comes with wanting to lead. When the PTI conducting the session says you’re leading from the front, that matters! It’s why I chose the career I did!
The point of this post, I hope you all had a great day with a little win! But the main point, you may feel like you’re treading water or regressing but test yourself, you may well be surprised!

Progression vs Regression
Progression … progress seems so minimal despite working through all the metrics.
Regression … seems so quick, a week off and you feel back to square one. Never mind an injury, busy work schedule, general life admin it all adds up.

I don’t train for aesthetics, nothing wrong with it, but personally train for performance. Saying that it never hurts to look and feel good in yourself.
The difference between the pictures/videos - a whole lot of life, stress, less than ideal sleep etc. it happens, happens to all of us, we’re human.
The point is recognising it and getting back to it, starting with the fundamentals. Back in today and 12 weeks time I’ll be back where I want to be.
Where will you be in 12 weeks? If you need help with training, nutrition, coaching you’ve come to the right place, stronger body, stronger mind.

The Commando Speed March
As I travel back from an epic family holiday I can’t be too disheartened to have missed this year’s event, yesterday. Some throwback pictures from previous years.
A true test of determination … on paper it’s ‘only’ a 6.7mile route to be completed in an hour or under. In reality, it’s the initial test that stood between hopeful commandos and the rest during WW2.
A test that seems to just go up, then down and then back up again with nothing in between. Potential commandos got off the train at Spean Bridge Station and had
