I’ve been planning our Autumn Day Retreat 🍂

I’ve taught this workshop for ten years and I’m still leaning the importance of what Mother Nature is trying to teach us…

See those of you who have booked on 26th September for a full day of exploration, Yoga, homemade food, movement and stillness.

After this my next seasonal Yoga offering will be for the winter solstice on December 19th and repeated again on the 20th (as it’s such a popular one). See you then? X

This week in classes there is a focus on creating some space.

Space in the breath
Space in the body

Space to feel
Space to listen

Space away from the usual distractions
Space held in the barn

Space to connect
Space to BE

Personally when I give myself a chance to settle and find some space… things become much more clearer and I’m a better human because of it 🙏🏻

🧘 A Morning of Pranayama & Meditation 🧘‍♀️

Join me for a simple and peaceful morning exploring the transformative practices of Pranayama (breathwork) and Meditation.

We’ll explore traditional breathing practices to calm the nervous system, balance energy and prepare the mind for meditation - with a variety of guided meditation techniques seated, lying and standing.

This is a relaxed morning of practice that will include some discussion with tea and homemade cake.

All the different asana (yoga poses)… all the practices for the physical body… it’s preparation to be able to sit and notice.

As Burgs says “the invitation isn’t to show how inventive and imaginative you are…. But how much you can notice”. 🙏🏻

⭕️ Women’s Circle next Friday evening ⭕️

It’s nothing fancy

But oh so so special

Come and sit in circle with us.
You don’t need to dress up.
You don’t need to wear makeup.

Remove all masks.
And be you.

Held in circle
with a brew and some cake

And a whole lot of love

Thank you for all the love I’ve received this past week. My calf is getting better but it’s definitely not up for running 75km and climbing 2600m tomorrow so I definitely made the right decision 🙌🏻

It’s been a great opportunity to reflect on why I signed up for The Lap - Windermere Ultra in the first place. It really is more about the journey than the destination. As much as a cliche as that sounds I have loved having focused training alongside my Yoga.

Good luck everyone doing the ultra tomorrow 💪🏻 you’ve got this!

Roll on May 😘

There’s been such a lovely energy in the studio so far this week.

It’s been so good to be back into more of a regular rhythm in classes and private session. I’ve loved welcoming some new students, returning regulars, and some familiar faces I haven’t seen for a long while.

I always notice the energy of the room.

That collective shift as everyone settles in…the busyness of the outside world gradually softening, attention turning inwards, breath becoming a little deeper and busy minds starting to quieten a bit.

Between sessions, I often smudge the studio with sage or palo santo. It’s a simple ritual of clearing and resetting the space before the next person or group arrives. I always set a positive intention for the class, 1:1 or workshop.

But also I think the barn has a little magic of its own. It feels like a space that knows how to hold people. Plus at least for the past 5 years it’s had a lot of wonderful humans add their calm to space 😘

See you Friday for our 9:30am Yoga class - still time to book 🙃

The gutted face of someone who has trained all year for an ultramarathon next week… only to have to defer it because of a very silly calf injury sustained whilst doing some very silly squat jumps and shooters 😭

I’ve been trying to focus on the positives though:

It gave me a focus and something to work towards.

My fitness and strength are the best they’ve ever been.

I felt genuinely ready for the event three weeks ago.

Having a goal pushed me out of my comfort zone and got some decent mileage into my legs on the trails in a place I love.

I’ve seen just how much my yoga has helped my running and strength training.

And now I’ve got another eight months of training before I give it another go! 🙌🏻

It was a really tough decision, but with less than a week to go, it would be pretty silly to even attempt it.

Sometimes the right choice is also the hardest one to swallow. So for now, I’m trying to be grateful for everything the training has given me rather than focusing on the race I won’t be doing.
