If my face is anything to go by, I am very much ready for the weekend already

Poor sleep after a comp is not the one

And it would’ve been easy to give check in a miss today

But we still show up and get s**t done

Recovery ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹ is key heading into this week

Lots of food and going a little easier with the first day or two of training

And then picking things back up towards the end of the week

Movement is still a big thing even after a comp

There’s a difference between moving for recovery and just sitting your arse on a sofa all day

I can almost guarantee you’ll feel worse for not moving at all

Today will involve lots of getting up and stepping away from my desk
Having a big long walk
A solid stretch sesh
And eating a lot of nutritious food

Whether you compete or not, if you feel lethargic and burnt out day in day out, a lot of that can come down to what you’re eating

You need to learn to fuel properly to boost your energy and not just be surviving day to day

It’s not about weight loss

Weight loss is just chasing a lower number on the scales

And that just leaves you in a constant cycle of rewarding yourself for doing well

To then punish yourself when you overdo the reward

The scales aren’t just telling you how much your body fat weighs

They’re telling you what your ENTIRE body weighs

The water
The bone
The muscle

And the rest

You think you want the number on the scales to be lower, because you think that’s what will make you look more lean and toned

It’s funny because the exact thing you think shows your progress, is the exact reason why you don’t look any different

You don’t want more weight loss

What you do want, is body recomposition

You can LOOK hella different at the SAME scale weight

I sure as hell hope she bought new shorts for her holiday šŸ‘€

Tough problem to have, buying new clothes because yours have gotten too big

It’s a tough time of year

Life becomes more social

We want to be outside enjoying the warmer weather

Living for the brighter mornings and longer evenings

Spending a day at the beach

Or the afternoon sat in a beer garden drinking an aperol šŸ¹

Embracing the air con in Tesco whilst you get picky bits to contribute to the family BBQ šŸ–

But what comes with the lifestyle we love so much and ensure the deep dark depths of winter for, is the moments you hold your breath whilst trying on clothes from last summer

The denim shorts you have to suck in for to do up

The top that feels tight around your arms

The skirt that doesn’t sit how it did last summer

The realisation that you might’ve let yourself go a little more than you thought

Maybe it’s true what they say, ā€œyou can’t out train a bad dietā€

Because the gym hasn’t been keeping up with your eating habits

The late night snacks
The boozy weekends
The winter comfort foods

You’ve been kidding yourself this whole time

And now its come back to bite you in the arse

BUT, there is hope

Although I’d advise you just buy new shorts rather than using a safety pin on your existing ones

But it could be you needing the size smaller

It could be you feeling more comfortable in your clothes

Not feeling like you need to cover up and hide away

How many times have you said, ā€˜I know what I need to do, I just struggle to do it’?

It should be so simple, right?

Eat less, move more

We’ve all heard, we all know it

But knowing and doing are two completely different things

You can know HOW to make a roast dinner, but that doesn’t mean you CAN make it

As Christie knows all too well with her cooking skills šŸ‘€

Unfortunately, as human beings, we can be pretty rubbish at doing anything unless we’re told to or it directly effects someone else

We spend so much time being responsible for other people and other things that responsibility for ourselves falls off a cliff

It’s giving Bella in Twilight being completely irresponsible when she quite literally jumps off a cliff

But let’s not be that dramatic

Instead, rather than hopelessly trying to look after yourself and getting nowhere

Hand over that responsibility to me

I don’t doubt that you know what you need to do to shift the skinny fat belly that lingers and look defined

But I will actually make you do it
