From Saturday 24th March until Saturday 31st March Leisure Focus alongside Magpies in the community will be running an activities week aimed to encourage more women and girls to get active and participate in physical activity.

Fantastic day at Leisure Focus where we hosted the Sportshall Athletics. This saw 24 school teams with over 400 young people, aged between 7 and 11 years of age compete.

The competition was held as part of the exciting national School Games initiative, delivered by Ascot & Maidenhead School Sport Partnership. This competition was supported by a team of young leaders from Newlands Girls School who took on the roles of officials & team leaders.

Leisure Focus Sports Inclusion and Participation Manager, Jatinder Singh Rakhra said “It is great to be able to support and encourage the primary schools of Maidenhead & Ascot to participate in sport and physical activity. It is an opportunity for children to build healthy habits and encourage them to do 60 Active Minutes a day that will benefit them in their lives. It is positive to have young leaders from Newlands Girls School supporting this event, as an organisation we are keen to support leaders and help the next generation of coaches and leaders within The Royal Borough of Windsor Maidenhead.

Exciting news.....Leisure Focus is the new host partner for the 2023 Get Berkshire Active, Winter, and Summer Youth games.

Leisure Focus' Chief Executive Mark Camp-Overy said "we are delighted to be able to host the event in the Royal Borough at the iconic venue, Braywick Leisure Centre. We are passionate about getting more children, more active, more often and healthier. Through our active communities programme, we work very closely with school sports partnerships to offer a wide range of access to sporting activities. We look forward to the event that will see over 1200 young athletes from 60 schools and their families come together from all over the county."

Get Berkshire Active Chief Executive Officer also added "we are excited to be working alongside Leisure Focus to deliver an outstanding experience to the young people of Berkshire via the Berkshire School Games. Positive sporting experiences are hugely important for children and can have a significant impact on their future activity levels. The facilities at Braywick are superb and provide the wow factor we want for our special events."
