Benefits of children’s yoga and mindfulness offer children and parents manage the ups and downs of daily life without needing any special equipment or extra time.

Emotional regulation and calm. Simple breathing exercises and mindful moments give a child tools to handle frustration, anxiety, or excitement. Over time, this can reduce meltdowns and improve focus.

Better focus and concentration.
Mindfulness trains the brain to notice distraction and come back to the task at hand useful for school, homework, and even play.

Physical strength and body awareness.
Yoga poses build core strength, flexibility, and coordination.
Children also learn to listen to their bodies.

Confidence and self-esteem.
Mastering a pose or calming themselves in a tough moment, gives children a genuine sense of accomplishment. They also learn not to compare themselves to others.

Improved sleep and relaxation.
A little evening yoga and mindful wind down with a book will calm an active mind, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.

The best part? It doesn’t have to be a formal class! Just three minutes of breathing exercise before homework or a few animal poses after school can already make a difference.

Why ‘The Terrible Twos’ is an incorrect and negative phrase. 🙁
The twos are the most important time for a child’s brain development!🧠😃

A synaptic explosion and synaptic pruning are all happening at the same time. Between ages 2 and 3, a child’s brain is creating synapses (connections between neurons) at an astonishing rate. In fact, a 2-year-old has about twice as many synapses as an adult brain. Children are forming new connections constantly as they experience the world, learn language, and move.
📘Quick explanation:
Synapses- connection between neurons - this is how entirely new pathways are built.
Synaptic pruning- pathways that are not used get pruned away.

I really, truly believe that when parents understand child development, it’s much easier to navigate these incredibly important times. ✨🧠✨

Here is Bee Breath as promised:
Bee breath 🐝🐝🐝
We breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth, making a buzzing sound like a bee. Bzzzz.

For ages 2 to 5 ❤️
Keep it very short, just three breaths would be ok or for up to three minutes maximum.
You can also make it a game
“Can you buzz like a hungry bee looking for a flower?” 🌺
“Can you buzz like a very quiet bee?” 🐝 🤫
“Can you buzz like a sleepy bee?”🐝 😴

Hope this helps

When we teach children breathing exercises, they learn how to expand their lungs to full capacity. 😮‍💨
The breath reflects how we feel. 😃
Through conscious breathing, we can transform our tension into calmness.  😊

“Can you feel the buzz in your face?” Bzzz

In other words, practice this when everything is nice and calm.
Keep repeating this… whenever you get the chance.
You don’t need to be a yoga teacher, yogi or super-qualified children’s education specialist. You can implement this easily at any time, any day, simple - golden nuggets like breathing exercises taught by a parent or a guardian, giving a positive lifestyle. ✨

The benefits are endless for both parent and child, and you are setting yourself up for a much smoother parenting ride. You will stay calm if you have a tool.

Exciting news!

‘Yoga with Mummy’ classes every Wednesday!
10:30-11:15, at Windsor Scouts HQ on Maidenhead Road SL4 5EY.

The classes will be held during term time only and the cost per class will be £10 (that includes you and child). Do get in touch for the free trial.

I will provide yoga mats but please feel free to bring your own or any blankets, teddies etc - nice for the end of class meditation.

These classes are specially designed to benefit both of you. Your little one will have an introduction to yoga and mindfulness through storytelling, play and a connection with the natural world. For the parents and carers, the classes will be packed with beneficial stretches building flexibility and strength, helping balance and relaxation. To finish the sessions, we will always have a sound bath.

I’d really appreciate it if you could send this to any parents or carers who may want to take part or try yoga with their child. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have any experience with yoga - the classes are all about learning, fun and making new friends.

The classes are ideal for 2–5 year olds, but if your child is younger and walking, or if you would simply like to see if the classes work for you despite the age suggestion, I’d be more than happy for you to come along. Come and check it out!

If you’re interested, please let me know - leave a comment or DM me.
