Well done to our wonderful girls and our friend Theresa from Gra na Rince for smashing their exams yesterday.

This is the first time since the pandemic hit that any of these girls have been in front of an adjudicator and they were cool as a cucumber.
You have all worked super hard and I am super proud!

Thank you to our Online Feis Committee who have been working hard on organising our first SERC Confined Online Feis. Please see the details below:

Dear Teachers & Parents


Please find attached our first ever online feis syllabus along with instructions and relevant information. We are aware that this is very new for everyone, us included, and so there will be questions and perhaps road bumps we may meet along the way. Open communication is very much welcomed and we have set up a designated email account to address any issues and to hopefully make the process as easy for you as we can. This email address is [email protected]. Please direct all queries to this email address.



This feis is our first trial at running an online feis and it is confined to dancers from the Southern England Region only. We are delighted to offer a full syllabus from Novice through to Open championship. The only difference is Dancers will not re-grade because of the results of this 1st online feis.



Stage/Floor size: We are fully aware that everyone in the region is in a full lockdown. We encourage children to record their videos at home, It doesn’t matter if it is in your hallway or kitchen, your back garden or on your practice pad. The only people that will see your video are the adjudicators. Adjudicators will be instructed to adjudicate the dancing only and not where the dance is recorded. We did not set a minimum space as children may have to record their dances on the spot depending on the space available to them. This is absolutely fine. No child will be deducted any marks if they are confined to a small spot and cannot move. So to make this as fair as possible as some dancers may have larger areas we are setting the maximum space to 6ft x 12ft. All the information regarding this and how to record can be found in the syllabus or in the specific documents attached.



Please take some time to read and digest the syllabus before sharing with your dance families. The first step will be to get all families (not individual dancers) to create their QuickFeis family account. I would highly advise you to encourage them to get their QuickFeis account set up as quickly as possible. Also, please ask anyone that already has a QuickFeis account NOT to create a new one, they are ready to enter once the entries open on Tuesday 19th Janurary.

Important dates:



January 19th 2021 - Feis registration opens online (www.quickfeis.com)

February 5th 2021 - Online registration closes

February 6th 2021 - Video upload open at videofeis.com

February 10th 2021 - Video upload closes

February 16th 2021 - RESULTS POSTED



All dances at all levels will be 32 bars Only Except for Tradional Set Dances & Open Set Dances



Our main aim with this feis is to get everyone to engage and enter, even if it is just one dance. It is very exciting for the children after a drought of competition for so long. Every single dancer that enters will receive a sash or pennant. Every dancer also receives individual comments from adjudicators as well as their results in every dance they enter. They will receive a certificate of participation.



Again we realise that this is all so new and obviously will never replace the buzz and excitement of an in person feis. But in these difficult times we hope this will give all your dancers the boost they need to start 2021. We ask you to encourage all your dancers to take part. It will be a very positive, uplifting experience for them especially when they receive their comments, sashes and certificates.
