Old Windsor Angling Club
We are a coarse angling club based in Windsor, Berkshire. Affiliated to Thames Valley AA The club runs matches most Sundays.
We control the fishing on parts of the Thames around Windsor and through association have access to the Wey Navigation Canal and the Basingstoke Canal.
I have great regret to inform you, that our long serving OWAC Treasurer Bob Skinner, died suddenly at home on Monday. I have known Bob since he was in short trousers, literally! Back in the late 70's my works fishing club McMichael, joined another Slough works club, Andrew Weatherfoil to share the fishing rights for the pond in Stoke Poges Golf Club. We held an inter club match on the pond and the winner was a young lad in Kahki shorts, Bob Skinner. I don't think that he worked for Andfoil, but his parent's house backed onto the park and he fished it regularly. I was drawn opposite him and while I was catching small tench and rudd on maggots, he was using a secret bait, worms from his dad's compost heap, to catch decent tench and crucian carp. When the golfers got fed up with sharing their precious pond with anglers, Old Windsor AC attracted most of us, including Bob, who got stuck in with organising the Club's paperwork, calculating a match pool payout sheet and club championship points, while being there on most team matches for the draw and payouts. Later on he set up this page and designed the Club web stite, while being the go-to person to solve problems for new members joining OWAC through Clubmate. Bob was also a very competent angler, being a valued member fishing the Maidenhead Summer League, Winter Leagues and Nationals for the club, while often present at club matches, where he figured in the frame on many occasions, until his increasing lack of mobility restricted his visits to the bankside. Despite his health problems, Bob continued with his faultless, reliable service to Old Windsor AC and will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his fellow committee members. Ken Joslin
We have been advised that the car park at Marsh Lane on the Jubilee River will be reopened on Wednesday 10th December following a long period of closure by the Environment Agency while they carried out repairs to the weir.
Important update
The fishing match scheduled for Home Park on the 5th October 2025 has been cancelled.
Home Park will be available for all members to fish.
The fishing match scheduled for the Jubilee River at Marsh Lane on the 12th October has been moved to the Jubilee River at Lake End Road.
This is due to the Marsh Lane carpark being closed while repair work on the weir is carried out by the Environment Agency.
Important information
Maintenance work will be taking place on the underside of the rail bridge at Home Park which will be accessed from the river.
This will affect the swims either side of the bridge which may be closed for safety reasons.
The works will commence at 22:00 on Saturday night 27th September and are expected to finish by 02:00 on Monday morning 29th September.
Access along the Thames path will be maintained and the other swims in Home Park or Potts Field should not be affected.

Twyford & district were once again triumphant in Sundays field cup on the moody Thames at Home Park and Potts Field with 27 points
Hosts Old Windsor ran a close second with 24 points
Very few Roach were caught on a low and clear river where perch and the ever present bleak proved important.
Individually Twyford also took the top three places Vince Davies came first with 7 lb 7 oz of bits on the whip and waggler from Potts Field followed by Matt Smith with 5 lb 12 oz and Simon Hibbert with five pound five ounce of perch
President Trump's visit to Windsor.
It has now been revealed that there will be a few road closures in Windsor for the Presidents visit.
The roads mentioned are the A308 Albert Road and a couple of roads adjoining to the A308 near where it crosses the Long Walk. This is on the opposite side of the castle to Home Park. It should not affect access to Home Park.
There may also be a protest and it is unclear if this will result in any road closures.
The closures will be during the day on Tuesday for rehearsals and during the day on Wednesday for the actual event.
The police have said there will also be police boat patrols on the river.

Perch proved important in today’s match at Home Park with Richard Lear including a 3 pounder in his 6 lb 6 oz to take A section pegs 10 to 15
Martin Kiy won B section pegs 25-34 with a roach catch of 6 lb 1 oz
I have been asked if there will be any restrictions on access to Home Park during President Trump's visit to Windsor next week.
So far the council has not informed me of any park or road closures.
A news report today says that for security reasons events will all take place within the castle grounds.
There will be increased security within the town.
Should there be any change in the situation I will let you know on this page.
