The 1st hosted Amersham at Home Park this week and with one umpire rocking up at 12 O’Clock we had a delayed toss. With Stand in Skipper Kai Ziemkendorf subject to some Coin tossing advice from Lines we were put into bat. With some damp weather about it looked like any chance of a result was out the window.

However, terrified to leave one after weeks gone by Matt Lazarczuck brought up his 50 inside 7 overs with Kaveer Vedd ticking along nicely eventually reaching 71*.
With players hiding under the covers Yuvraj Sangha joined Kaveer with a swift 47 taking the boys to 201 before rain brought our innings to a close. At which point we were told there would be a pitch inspection in half an hour.
Up stepped the Super Sopper alongside copious amounts of sawdust, and it was deemed GAME ON. From here it was a race to get to our 20 overs. This meant spin from both ends with Shivam Rao (2-21) and Mark Lines (1-21) opening up.
Followed by overseas Logan (who decided he could catch this week) and Ryan Lewin who took 3-42 and if we didn’t mention it he would flip, also had a fairly decent run out.

To top off a day where the skipper grafted hard to get a game on, Kai took a deserved 2-11, and the boys took a HUGE win to take us top heading to Slough next week. UP THE WINDS🏰❤️

Oliver Cross decided not to attend a stag-do or wedding this weekend, which meant he could steer the 1s to a 4 wicket victory over Wraysbury. After wickets were shared around between Bailey (2-14), Isaac (3-67), Kai (3-41) and Lines (2-1), the chase of 141 didn’t get off to the best of starts. 12-1 became 41-4 pretty quickly, and when Lines departed with the score 75-5, the game was finely poised. Crossy tucked into the bowling, with Bailey supporting at the end to help see the side over the line.

James Earnshaw had a mixed day out against Crowthorne & Crown Wood CC. After Dixon won the toss, an opening stand of 49, of which Wally scored a swashbuckling 40 (with one six nearly endangering Mazza coaching in the nets), set up a solid foundation. However, the 2s slipped from 49-1 to 81-4, not helped by Earnshaw’s duck. Steve (41) got them past 100 but it was Iq who put in the standout batting performance. His 62* was vital in setting up a decent score to defend, aided by some late order hitting from Saleem and Shiv. In reply, a fantastic opening spell from Luke (1-11) and Saleem (2-6 + a run out courtesy of Nathan Page’s previous misfield) blunted the opposition’s chase. Shiv bowled tidily to be unrewarded with a wicket, and Dixon helped get the vital wicket who threatened to rebuild the innings. Earnshaw then rattled through the lower order to pick up his first 5-fer for Windsor and see the side to an 87 run win ✋

The 3s couldn’t manage to make it back-to-back wins after a heavy defeat at Maidenhead and Bray. Asked to bowl on the M25, most of the bowlers got a bit of tap. However, Leo (1-49) bowled well up top with Guppy (1-45) but it was “Big Pappa” Hans who was the standout bowler, picking up 2 wickets for 42. Chasing 328 is never easy, especially not when there’s a top and middle order collapse. However, as the saying goes: “if you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, then maybe, just maybe, you might not mess it up.” So it proved for the experienced Birdy. His 104 - his 5th 💯 for the club - included an 89 run partnership with Hans (39*) that rebuilt the innings from its shaky start. Late order hitting from Perkins (35*) got the 3s to another batting point, though sadly that was all that could be salvaged from the defeat.

The 4s had a tricky day at home to Royal Ascot. Edgy lost the toss and was asked to bowl, which went down well on a hot afternoon. However, after good opening spells from Sri (2-31) and Umar (2-44), followed up by more wickets for youngster Zane (2-36) the innings started to get away from Windsor. Wickets at the end for Vikram (2-37) and Zain (1-54) rewarded their toil. In reply the 4s had a lot of starts but only one person kicked on: Umar. His 75 off just 59 balls looked to be getting Windsor close to the total, but once he fell with the score at 134-5 the game was soon wrapped up.

Super Mark Lines! After picking up 3-7 as Windsor bowled Burnham out for 150, Lines found himself back out in the sun earlier than he would’ve liked following a good old-fashioned top order collapse. From 35-3 Lines rebuilt the innings steadily until another collapse saw Windsor reeling at 99-7. When the captain departed with the score at 116-8 things looked bleak. However, Lines, ably supported by Ryan ‘North London Forever’ Lewin, played with patience and grit to see the side home.

The 2s had a chastening day out, losing by 8 wickets to Hurley CC. At least it was sunny.

The 3s got their first win of the season thanks to Eddie Winch’s debut 5-fer in senior cricket! Supported by Trig at the other end (3-30) the 3s bowled out Twyford and Ruscombe for 138. Birdy then recorded his 32nd fifty for the club to steer the 3s to a well-deserved 5-wicket victory.

Unfortunately the 4s were beaten by Finchampstead but Zane Holmes persisted in the sweltering sun to record his best-ever figures for the club! Not wanting to miss out on the fun, Edgy picked up a couple of poles to take him to 4th in the all-time bowling list. The 4s reply never quite got going, although Travis Freeme’s 45 helped pick up a few bonus points.

Two up on the board this week!

Overseas quick Logan Andrews picked up his first 5-fer for the club against Gerrards Cross. His 10 over spell helped reduce the opposition to 121 all out, which the 1s chased down in 16.2 overs, Luv notching up a fifty along the way.

Battling a spicy pitch and a dodgy pizza from the night before, Steve Shaw scored his first 💯 for the club (hitting five 4s and five 6s) to set up a sizeable 268-6 for the 2s. Tidy figures from Iq Dhutti and Chris Dixon helped seal the win.

James Eaton put in a captain’s knock on a disappointing day out for the 3s. Put in to bat on a tricky pitch there was a slight batting collapse, going from 30-1 to 79-7. Eaton’s 37* helped get the 3s to a total to bowl at, and he followed this up with two decent caught behinds. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.

Adam Fox top-scored for the 4s, helping them get to 102-3 before a mild collapse saw them reach 156-9. Despite Gaurav Chawla’s efforts with the ball, picking up 3-32, the 4s succumbed to a 5-wicket defeat.

The Ladies crossed international waters to take part in their first softball tournament in Almería, Spain.

After a sticky start, the ladies booked their place in the Semis after a strong performance in their group.

Unfortunately, they were unstuck in the semis but took on the 3rd/4th place playoff with gusto.

Naaya & Maddie batted the last 2 overs... scoring not only 4s, but 6s...including a monster to finish up with 3 runs to win on the last ball!
Naaaya hit an amazing 4! Windsor ladies have secured 3rd place out of all 11 teams in their first ever tour!

Here go the girls!

Players of the Week & Team of the Week

Luv Savant had a Windsor debut to remember, scoring a century in his first league game for WCC that laid the foundation for a 145-run victory.

Chris Dixon put in a captain’s performance in his first game back in charge of the 2s, leading the side to a 69 run victory when at one point they were reeling at 43-4.

Despite an incredible bowling performance from the ‘Sugar Swing Singh’ Guppy Chander the 3s fell short in their chase of 104, losing by just 2 runs.

Also on his Windsor CC league debut, Olly Saunders had front row seats to a good old-fashioned batting collapse. Sadly his 50 wasn’t enough for the 4s in their chase of 201.
