I turned 36 recently; October 3rd - iconic 🎂 I always reflect on the year and my life lessons, so here’s some I’d like to share…
🩷I lost my identity. I lost my spark. I lost my confidence. I was always career driven, amazing at my job. I was the dafty who showed up full of energy, positivity and laughs, danced our worries away, stayed to chat all night and gave everyone all my time, and none of that exists anymore. It made me really sad that nothing was the same, but now I realise it’s never meant to stay the same, and actually, it’s only made me a better instructor, PT, mum, friend, and partner. I’m still me, but in a new chapter, with more to give in different ways. I hope that’s how you look at it too if you are in the same phase of life.
💜 I truly believe that the ‘failure’ does lead to something better. I shut down part of my business, and created a new path. Those setbacks are genuinely leading you to where you are supposed to be. Those rejections, hurdles, are all telling you that actually this isn’t for you, I’ve got something bigger & better planned. Always trust it. If you have to admit defeat on something, don’t be ashamed. Remember that nothing is worth your mental health or taking away the focus from what truly matters in your life.
🩷You won’t always get the justice you deserve. Some people will do really sh*tty things and get away with it. However, people who do sh*tty things will have sh*tty lives anyway. Accept how it played out and let them suffer in their own ways.
💜I have really bad PTSD, anxiety and Postpartum depression, yet I am genuinely the happiest and most fulfilled I’ve ever been. Both things can exist simultaneously. Know that better days are coming, amazing things are happening in front of you, your brain might just be wired a wee bit different.
🩷People won’t show up for you the way you thought they would. Friendships you thought would last forever, won’t. Don’t hold on to resentment because it’s only you who suffers and it can be incredibly isolating. People have their own stuff to deal with, you can still love them and be rooting for them; however, know when you deserve more and focus on the ones who do show up for you.
🩷MOTHERHOOD: I could do a whole book on this. It’s taught me loads. How to slow down. How to be present. Patience. How bloody strong I am!
Sleep deprivation is no joke. Running a business with your partner while both severely sleep deprived has been so much harder than I ever imagined, and I truly mean 20 months of no sleep. Please help support your mum friends as best as you can. Even if it’s popping in so they can just sit for 15 minutes makes such a difference. I see mums in a completely different light now that I am one. You mean to tell me you weren’t just pushing your baby in a pram?! You were anxiety ridden, stressed and wanted to die at times 😂 You’re showing up to the gym and doing your thing, I am in awe! Like wow! It’s incredible.
I never thought I could love something so much, but it’s also the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. I’m so proud of me. For it all. Let’s see what the next year brings ✨
