The Stonesfield team (Jane, Lindsey, Miles and Rob) played in our third match in this year's Wychwood league. Playing at home, we had a narrow loss (35-31) against Charlbury with many close games that could have gone either way. This was our first loss, having won the first 2 matches. Last Sunday saw a second win for the Stonesfield team in the Wychwood cup 39 games to 27 against Chipping Campden. Edward, Jane, Lindsey and David. A blustery day but many thanks to David and Edward on their debuts for the team and Lindsey for her clean sweep. Post match tea in the sunshine at the Social club. A great day!

The Stonesfield team played their first match of this year's Wychwood league. Playing away against Moreton in Marsh, the team (Jim, Jane, Lindsey and Rob) had a 39-27 victory. Thanks to the Moreton team for hosting us and a fun day was had by all. The next match is next Sunday at home.

With the weather improving day by day, it's that time of year again when we can dust off our racquets and make use of the wonderful facility we have at Stonesfield tennis club.

Coaching services will again be provided by Alex Dillon: L3 qualified coach with junior sessions commencing on Tuesday April 29.

You are able to book sessions by following the coaching tab on the website., however the ongoing sessions are as follows.

Adult Improvers: Tue 12 - 1pm
Red Ball Tennis (6-8 year olds): Tue 4 - 5pm.
Orange Ball Tennis (8-10 years olds): Tue 5-6pm.
Yellow Ball Tennis (11+ years olds): Tue 6-7pm.
Adult doubles hour. Tue 7-8pm

STONESFIELD What's on in Oxfordshire Tennis Oxfordshire Stonesfield Sports & Social Club Hanborough Villages Stonesfield Village Hall Events in West Oxfordshire

We are pleased to announce that, at a recent planning meeting of the West Oxforshire District Council, the club’s proposal to instal floodlighting was passed with a 9-0 vote.

The proposal was initially rejected at the February meeting, however a number of small changes have ensured that the project can now proceed.

The club is now investigating funding options and considering logistics of the system, however we are hoping that will be active late 2024.

We mentioned this in a previous post, but congratulations again to Andy Tacon and everyone else who assisted organising the Wychwoods Tennis League which was named as the regional winner in the Connecting Communities Award.

Here is Stonesfield Tennis Club member, Amanda Ford collecting the trophy from LTA president Sandy Procter at the Nottingham Open this week.

We are always looking for players to join this social doubles tournament so please reach out if you would like to be part of this "winning" competition.

Our club nights are stating again this week

Thursday from 6 pm.

Players of all levels welcome.

The aim of this session is for social tennis match play.

Depending on how many attend, we will play a combination of doubles and singles and swap partners are required. This will allow you some different experience, playing different people at different abilities.

No need to book, but be great if you posted on this group if you are coming.

Borut will be generally running coordinating these sessions, however may not always be available, so any assistance on the night to get things going would be great.
