🔴 Last week’s results included:

* Barbie, Jazzmin, Nigel & Kevin won their Mixed Fours game against Lyn Dunsby and team from Witney Mills.

* Ladies League won 6-4 against Carterton.

* Men’s League won 5-1 against Banbury Borough.

* Andy, Dave C & Kevin A lost against Piers Myatt.

* Nigel, Shep & David L won both games last week and now progress to play Adrian Cuzner away at Watlington.

* Jazzmin & Helen won at home against a team from Thame in the pairs.

* National Double Rink competition lost by just 2 shots against Adderbury.

* The friendly against Highworth was played in warm conditions and ended in a narrow 1-shot loss.

* Kevin A won his Champion of Champions game at Witney Town 21-5 against Fabrizio Boer.

Well done to Jazz, Georgie, and Helen for representing our county in the Walker Cup Regionals. 💙

Well done to our ladies who won all 3 of their games today in the Walker Cup Regionals at Moulden Bowls Club, Bedfordshire. They won 6-2 on all games, securing qualifying for the National Finals.

They have done us all in Oxfordshire proud today with their grit and determination to get over the line.

Another busy week on the green for West Witney. ☀️

Results from last week included:

• Men’s County Fours Last 16 — Nigel, Spud, Andy & Kev A were defeated away at Charlbury
• Officers Cup — Karen lost away at Bloxham against Paul
• Longford Cup — Kevin W lost away at Burford against John Hurran
• Men’s Top Club — lost away at Chipping Norton
• Ladies League — fantastic 8–2 win against Witney Town, putting the ladies top of the league 👏
• Men’s League — 1–5 loss against Burford, currently sitting second in the league
• Club Friendly vs Abingdon — played in great spirit on a very hot afternoon, with a win for West
• County 2 Wood at South Oxford — both Shep and David L won their opening matches before narrowly losing in round two

Highlights from last week…

• Jazz progressing in the Ladies Champion of Champions with a brilliant 21-9 win

• Georgie & Craig Morphet picking up a Mixed Pairs victory

• A tough extra-end loss for Andy, Rachel, Karen & Shep in the Mixed Fours against Carterton

• West Witney just narrowly losing out on a win at Banbury Central in ladies league, but picked up 4 points on two rinks.

• A solid 6-0 Men’s League win over Carterton B

• Nigel, Spud, Andy & Kev A progressing in the Men’s County Fours

• A 9-3 Mixed Triples League win against Banbury Central, with a special mention to Jerry, Spud & Helen for a convincing rink win. Player of the match went to Helen!

• Wins for Jazz & Kev A in the Mixed Pairs

• good win on our Senior Fours side against Carterton

• A lovely afternoon away at Cheltenham in a closely fought friendly, finishing with 2 winning rinks each

A strong week for West Witney! 🔵🔴

- Ladies League got off to the perfect start with a fantastic 10–0 away win at Banbury Borough

- Nigel & Kev A won their first round of the Overs Pairs against Gary Panos & partner at Witney Town

- Our National Double Rink side beat Headington B 37–28 at home, with the final ends played in near darkness!

- David L & Dad also competed in the Family Pairs against the Oslings. Sadly lost 17-11 but played well on a tricky green.

- David L & Georgie secured a 16–9 Mixed Fours win away at Headington.

- The club friendly away at Blackbird Leys finished in a narrow 74–72 victory, winning on 3 rinks overall, with Captain Barbie’s rink finishing as highest winning rink!

- The men had a 12 shot defeat away at Burford in the League Cup.
- Karen & Andy were narrowly beaten on an extra end in the National Mixed Pairs against Jamie Goodwin & Margaret Poole from Carterton.
- great news from from our friendly at Swindon Town Gardens, with a win on 3 rinks and a positive shot difference!

📆 Looking ahead to this week…

Wednesday 6th May – Ladies League

Thursday 7th May
- Spud & Kev A take on Gary Panons & partner (Witney Town) in the first round of the over 60’s Pairs.
- No men’s league fixture this week, but Captain David will be at the club for a competitive roll up ahead of next week’s opener.

Friday 8th May
- National Double Rink vs Headington B (Home, 6:15pm start)
- Rinks will also be available for Friday Social play.

Saturday 9th May
- David L & Dad play Family Pairs at Carterton against the Oslings.
- some of our ladies will be playing in the John’s trial this weekend (Jazz, Helen, Georgie, and Rachel).

Sunday 10th May
- David L & Georgie take on Chris Charles & team at Headington in the Mixed Fours.
- Mixed Friendly away at Blackbird Leys (2:30pm start). Barbie is still looking for 2 more players for this game – please get in touch if you’re available!

📆 Last Week…
Yesterday marked our first friendly game of the season. A special shoutout to Kay, Katie, Indie & Felix, who all played their first ever friendly. We hope you had a fantastic afternoon, and here’s to many more games to come! West came away with the win by 3 shots 🎉 (2–3 on rinks)

🔵 Thursday
Our men kick off their first competitive match of the season, travelling away to Burford for the League Cup (Round 2). Start time: 6:15pm.
Supporters and cheerleaders very welcome!

⚪️ Friday
Our Friday Social Roll-Up continues from 6pm. All welcome for a relaxed and friendly evening on the green 😊

🔴 Sunday
Our next friendly is away at Swindon Town Gardens (team to be announced soon).
