🎾☀️ THAT’S A WRAP ON SUMMER TEAM TENNIS! ☀️🎾
What a season! Wins, losses, promotions, relegations, injuries, rain, ridiculously close matches… and a LOT of players stepping up when teams needed them. 💪
A huge thank you to every single person who played, captained, filled in, supported and generally helped keep the WLTC show on the road this summer! 💚
Here’s how our teams finished…
🎾 MEN’S A
A tough season in a very strong division, as expected, and sadly relegation this time around. Plenty of battling tennis though – and we’ll be back!
🎾 MEN’S B
The aim was simply to stay up after several players stepped up from the C team… instead they cruised to 4th place, with an impressive 5 wins from 7! 👏
🎾 MEN’S C
A challenging season with lots of movement between teams and players being called up – ultimately resulting in relegation, but a massive thank you to everyone who stepped in and played.
🎾 MEN’S D
So close! They sat in 2nd for much of the season and finished with a dramatic 4–4 draw against their nearest rivals. That kept them ahead… only for another team with a game in hand to leapfrog them both! 😩 A brilliant 3rd-place finish, narrowly missing promotion.
💚 LADIES A
An incredible 3rd in Division 1; making them the third-placed team in the whole of Oxfordshire! 🥉🔥
Even more impressive with plenty of B and C team players stepping up to help out. An amazing squad effort.
💚 LADIES B
A tough season in Division 2, with most matches crammed into July onwards, but they kept fighting and achieved exactly what they set out to do; staying up! 🥳 Finishing 6th and ready to go again.
💚 LADIES C
Lots of fun, close matches and some great wins along the way. A 7th-place finish in Division 5; and already looking forward to the winter season! 😊
💚 LADIES D
A solid 5th-place finish, with some great matches and seriously close scores. Injuries meant plenty of squad rotation, but a loyal group kept battling and secured their place in the division. 🙌
🔥 MIXED A
The final match of the season was defeated by the weather today 🌧️ but they finish a fantastic 4th in Division 1! Another brilliant result despite Captain Caroline spectacularly snapping her Achilles in the VERY FIRST MATCH of the season. 🤦♀️😂
🔥 MIXED B
A 5th-place finish in Division 2, with some great early results and plenty of really good tennis throughout the season.
🔥 MIXED C; PROMOTED! 🥈⬆️
They started the season with one goal: stay in the division.
Apparently they misunderstood the assignment. 😂
They finished 2nd and earned PROMOTION! 🥳🎉 An absolutely brilliant season and thoroughly deserved.
🔥 MIXED D
After promotion to Division 4 last year, the goal was to consolidate – mission accomplished! A 6th-place finish, some good wins, some incredibly tight matches and loads of determination throughout. 👏
And that’s summer done! ☀️🎾
There have been some fantastic individual team results, but perhaps the biggest win has been seeing so many players stepping up across the club when injuries, availability and team changes demanded it.
Massive thanks to all our captains, and to EVERYONE who pulled on a WLTC shirt this summer. 💚 and especially to Ladies C who clearly won the award for most match photos taken! 📸
