A couple of months ago we were informed that one of our OSTMA karate students had just been diagnosed with Leukeamia. As you can imagine, this was quite a shock and sadly this is now a very difficult time for the family involved.
OSTMA's chief instructor, Sensei Paul Wood, shared this news with a friend of his who also happens to be a parent of another of our OSTMA karate students. This friend is a market area director for Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). JLR have a strong connection with the blood cancer charity Cure Leukeamia and every year, JLR supports a team of riders to participate in the annual Cure Leukaemia London to Paris cycle ride where considerable effort is given to raise lots of money for this cause.
On hearing the very sad news of this OSTMA student, Sensei Paul's friend has organised it with JLR for him to join the team and take part in this challenge.
Setting off first thing on Thursday 4th June from Greenwich Park in London, Sensei Paul will be cycling his way across to Dover. Friday and Saturday will have him cycling from Calais across Northern France including the Somme before making his way on to the cobbles to the Arc De Triomphe and on to the finish line by the Eiffel Tower on Sunday 8th June. Full social media coverage including drones etc will be tracking his progress and the OSTMA instagram and pages will be updated daily so you can see how he is getting on.
This is where we are reaching out to our OSTMA family to support Sensei Paul on the ride and donate to this amazing cause. He has a fundraising target to reach and with your help and support we are positive he can achieve it.
We are sure Leukeamia has had an impact in some of your own lives, perhaps through knowing friends or other family members with this type of disease.
