U14s Match Report
Result: Stonesfield Strikers 6 - 0 Witney Vikings
Today, our boys put last week’s semi-final defeat behind them with a really strong team performance. From the keeper to the strikers, it was a dominant display that resulted in a 6-0 win featuring some superb team goals.
The boys ran their socks off and showed Vikings exactly why we are league winners!
We wish Witney Vikings all the best for the rest of the season; they were incredibly gracious in defeat.

U14s County Cup Semi-Final: Stonesfield vs. Combe
My Stonesfield team travelled the short distance to play Combe for our County Cup Semi-Final. Upon arrival, we found the bottom corner of the pitch had standing water and was extremely boggy. Fortunately, we managed to move the match to the neighboring village of Long Hanborough, where the pitch was in excellent condition and truly worthy of a semi-final.
It was a fantastic match from start to finish. We opened the scoring with two wonder goals from outside the box, taking a 2-0 lead which we held until half-time.
In the second half, the wind picked up against us. We knew Combe would come out strong with nothing to lose. Unfortunately, we gave away too many free kicks in wide positions when we should have stayed on our feet to hold them up. Combe managed to score from three of those set pieces; in fairness, they delivered dangerous balls into the box that their players attacked well.
In the final minutes, we earned a corner and threw everyone forward in search of an equalizer, but it just wasn't meant to be. Combe was then awarded a penalty in the dying moments, but our keeper pulled off a spectacular save to keep the scoreline close.
Injuries caught up with us in the end. Having only two substitutes—and one player pushing through an injury—may have been the deciding factor in our tired legs.
Overall, Combe were worthy winners, and we wish them the best of luck in the final against Thame. It was a great game of football played by both teams.

Stonesfield u14s travelled to Witney to play Vikings in the league. We knew if we won and another result went our way we could win the league today. Our game kicked off slightly later than normal due to a game on before us. I received a message during the first half to say Summertown had won there match so if we won our match we would win the league.
Our match was pretty close in the first half there keeper pulled off 3 superb saves and when we did get it past the keeper a defender was there to clear off the line. They had a couple of chances one of which our defender cleared off the line. So at half time it was still 0-0
I told the boys at half time if they win today they would win the league today with 2 league games to spare to hopefully spur them on.
Second half started still much the same we created a couple of half chances so did they. Then we got a freekick halfway in there half. We put the ball into the box for our striker to make it 1-0 to us.
Almost straight from kick off we conceded a penalty which they tucked away to make it 1-1. We battled and battled and felt it just wasn't going to be our day. Then with about 10 minutes remaining we crossed the ball into there box and it fell again to our striker to make it 2-1
I then told our boys just keep it tight for the next 5 minutes which they did and it got a bit niggley and scrappy which then suited us. They did have a corner near the end that they just headed wide.
Full time whistle went we had won 2-1 and won the Oxfordshire C league
Well done boys on a very boggey pitch you managed to get the win. 👏

U14s league match: Stonesfield vs Launton (away)
We traveled to Launton. Despite all the rain this week, the pitch wasn't too bad – a little boggy in places. We played some really nice football! We took a 5-0 lead into half-time (could've been more). Launton created a few chances, which our keeper and defence dealt with well.
In the second half, we continued to play well, though we didn't quite reach the same intensity as the first half. We managed to score 2 more goals, and we were more compact, which meant Launton didn't create much in the second half.
Full-time: Launton 0-7 Stonesfield. Fair play to Launton – they never gave up! 👏
