A summer can be measured in days.
Or it can be measured in growth.
How many new things did they try?
How many challenges did they face?
How many times did they discover they could do more than they thought?
Because childhood isn't just about keeping children entertained.
It's about helping them become capable.
Confident.
Resilient.
Curious.
And ready for whatever comes next.
Make this summer count.

It comes from knowing you can handle not being the best.
You won't always win.
You won't always get it right.
You won't always understand something straight away.
And that's okay.
Children need to learn that progress matters more than perfection.
Try.
Learn.
Adjust.
Try again.
That's how resilience develops.
And that's one of the greatest things sport can teach a child.

Ask a child what they did this summer.
You could hear about games, films, holidays and days out.
But imagine them also saying...
"I learned how to do this."
"I managed something I couldn't do before."
"I was nervous, but I did it anyway."
"I didn't give up."
Those aren't just summer memories.
They're pieces of confidence they'll take with them into the next school year.

They stand at the edge.
Watching everyone else.
Not sure whether they want to join in.
Maybe they're nervous about getting something wrong.
Maybe they've never done anything like this before.
So we don't rush them.
We give them time.
Then one day, they step onto the mat.
Then they try.
Then they smile.
Then they come back.
And slowly, the child who once stood at the edge starts becoming the child who can't wait to get started.
That's why we love teaching children.
The change isn't always loud.
Sometimes it's simply watching them believe in themselves a little more.

Imagine if your child spent the summer collecting small wins.
Trying something new.
Learning a skill.
Making a friend.
Solving a problem.
Getting something wrong.
Trying again.
Achieving something they didn't think they could.
None of those moments seem huge on their own.
But put them together over six weeks...
And you can start to see something change.
That's how confidence is built.
Not overnight.
But one small win at a time.

We want the best for our children.
Naturally, we want to protect them from disappointment.
But children also need opportunities to experience challenge.
Because challenge teaches something comfort never can.
"I can handle this."
"I can try again."
"I don't have to get it right the first time."
"I can keep going."
Those lessons become part of who they are.
And they'll need them long after the summer holidays are over.
