🏆 National Masters – Team Champions.

We are absolutely thrilled to bring home the Gi and Overall Team Championship at National Masters.

At white belt, Jordan gained valuable experience, Callum took a brilliant silver, Aaron took gold, Richard had a 11-9 loss on points, Tyrone showed great work despite the loss, and Jessi had the frustration of an unfortunate ref stoppage.

At blue belt, Patrick stepped up first time at this level, and Chris fought hard and performed well, even though both came up short this time.

At purple belt, Vitalii was outstanding with a triple gold in gi, absolute, and no-gi. Naama lost by a single advantage to the eventual winner in an exciting match. Shane fought up a weight and took silver. Becky was phenomenal with four golds, gi, absolute, no-gi, no-gi absolute. Christie performed well the first time out at purple with a good mindset. Angel fought up a weight, made the final, and took silver with 2 victories to get there. Josh showed plenty of good stuff despite the losses. Owain had the frustration of an opponent no-show. Same as our friend Adam from Dark Path Grappling, who travelled three hours for an Ultra Heavy Black Belt division that didn't run, and it was brilliant to see Pete back competing at lightweight.

At brown belt, Tom hit a wicked kimura for gold, Liam secured a knee bar for gold, Jamie did the same with a knee bar for gold, and Christian battled to silver. After a dominant first match that took a lot out of him.

At black belt, I took gold in my division, but had an opponent no-show in the semis. Then got a sub win in the absolute before losing on points, and came up short in no-gi.

Many of the guys and girls fought absolutes with also helped towards the medal tally.

Most importantly, all those efforts added up to us bringing home the National Masters Gi Team Championship.

Huge thanks to everyone back at the academy who pushed the rounds, and to Elite BJJ Event for another well run competition.
