Are we taking children out of swimming lessons too soon? @cbbc favourite @maddiemoate is fronting a new national ‘Keep Swimming’ campaign, encouraging families to stick with lessons beyond the basics and helping children build confidence, competence and vital water safety skills. The campaign comes as new figures reveal that more than 70% of UK children are withdrawn from swimming lessons before they can swim competently, while almost one in three children leave primary school unable to swim 25 metres – the national curriculum standard. Launching with @waterbabies_swim_school Maddie has created a series of fun, science-led videos explaining everything from buoyancy to how our bodies float, all designed to inspire children to keep developing their swimming skills.
