“Are you still offering freelance coaching?”

Absolutely! 🐴💜

I’ve had a few people asking me this recently, so I thought I’d pop a little reminder on here!

Things have been a little quieter on the lesson front over the last few weeks, as everyone settles back into their usual routines, but I’m very much still teaching and taking bookings!

With Penelope’s new routine, travelling out to different yards isn’t always quite as straightforward as it used to be. However, you’re more than welcome to come to me!

I have access to an arena at the yard where I keep my horses, complete with floodlights, which means we can make midweek evening lessons work, and there’s also weekend availability.

And if you come to me, I can offer some really affordable lesson prices:

🐴 Private lesson — £25

🐴 Shared lessons (2–5 riders) — £20 per person

Both include arena hire!

I’ve been coaching riders of all ages and abilities for years, from riding school lessons to private coaching, and I still regularly teach Pony Club ridden rallies and stable management sessions.

Whether you’ve got something specific you’d like to work on, need a bit of confidence building, or just fancy a lesson to get you feeling motivated again, I’d love to help!

Right horsey people, I want to pick your brains… 👀

I’ve been thinking about trying Luna bitless for a little while now, and after her recent chiropractor appointment I’m becoming more and more curious about whether taking the bit away might help her.

She’s always been a horse who carries a lot of tension, particularly through her jaw, poll and neck, and over the years I’ve spent a LOT of time wondering whether I just haven’t found the right bit for her.

But now I’m wondering… what if the answer isn’t another bit? 😂

This is definitely me stepping slightly outside my usual comfort zone, so I’d genuinely love to hear from people who’ve tried going bitless with a forward, sensitive, slightly spicy horse 🌶️

Did you notice a difference? Did they relax? Did you feel like you still had enough communication? Did you love it, hate it, or end up somewhere in between?

No right answers, no judgement and definitely no bits-vs-bitless warfare please 😂 Just a good old horsey discussion and people sharing what worked (or didn’t!) for them.

Having a child didn’t make me love horses any less, but it definitely changed what having them looks like.

I don’t really have a village. I lost my mum before I had Penelope, and there are so many times I wish I had her here to turn to.

I’m self-employed, trying to build a career, raise my daughter, keep horses and somehow make it all work. Plans get cancelled, goals get pushed back, money gets tight and sometimes simply keeping everything going is the achievement.

I actually gave horses up for eight months. On paper, it made sense. In reality, I was more anxious and depressed than ever. It made me realise horses aren’t just something I do — they’re a huge part of what makes me, me.

So I found a way back.

And having the right horse for this stage of my life makes all the difference. Luna is fiery, fun and gives me all those dreams of competing again, but she’s also the horse I trust to bring me safely home to Penelope. 🤍

Things don’t look how I once imagined, and everything takes a little longer these days.

But I’m proud of myself. I’m still here, I’m still trying, and I’m not ready to give up on any of it yet. 🤍
