π©΅ CONNECTING TO YOURSELF RETREAT DAY π©΅
Thinking about coming to our gorgeous retreat day on 10th May but want to know a bit more about us?
Jo Cox is a holistic therapist at Flow Holistic Therapy who believes that we all need connection with ourselves and with others for our physical, emotional and social wellbeing. She is a qualified breathwork instructor with a particular interest in the way that the breath can be used to calm the nervous system and enable the body to switch from a stress-based 'fight or flight' state to a 'rest and repair' state.
Rachel Dixon is a yoga instructor at EdenRose_Yoga whose mission is to share the calming effects of yoga with an many people as possible. To Rachel, yoga is more than just a physical practice, it's a way of life that can bring balance and harmony. Rachel is also a qualified breathwork instructor, and she loves to use this together with movement to help others.
We are looking forward to collaborating for what is going to a gorgeous retreat day on May 10th. This beautiful retreat day is suitable for all, regardless of your background and experience.

Downward dog π π§π»ββοΈ
Sometimes suggested as a place to rest or come back to between poses.
This pose itself can feel pretty strong when you first start your yoga journey. The perfect triangle that you see more flexible people sporting is generally not what is seen in most classes.
The average person has tight hamstrings, their core max be weak from lack of use or childbirth add this together with a lack of strength in the hip flexors from sitting all day β¦β¦ and this pose can feel really tough!!
There are options:
In chair yoga I would never be expecting anyone to come near the mat, these people often have weak wrists and/ or problems with mobility to get them up and down from a mat.
Using a chair πͺ is a way of still accessing this pose. A person can still draw the hips high. The benefits of having the heart and head lowered are still included as are the ability to lengthen through the back and front of the body.
Alternatively in a mat class blocks may be used. Raising the hands can help with the tight hamstrings.
Finally there may be a progression to no blocks and no chair but keeping the bend in the knees and heels off the floor so they can really draw the hips high.
Onwards from this would be to straighten the legs and draw the heels down towards the floor.
Wherever you are at you shouldnβt feel pain within the pose and warm up the wrists and hands before coming into it. There are many more options for whatever condition you may be living with.
For inclusive classes whatever your level:
Mondays Chair 11am The Fold
Tuesdays Vinyasa 7.15pm Powick Pavilion
Fridays Friday Flow 9.30am Whittington Community Hall
