Good turn out for U3A Session. 18 attended with 4 coaches to guide them. Everyone enjoyed it and the skill set is improving week on week even the newbies did well too. Keep coming - it’s fun addictive. Worcester Norton Croquet Club.

THE OPEN GATE CONVERSATION:

Every croquet club has a gate.
Some gates feel open.
Some feel half-open.
Some, without anyone meaning harm, can feel a little harder to walk through.
So here is the question:
What makes a croquet club truly welcoming — not just on day one, but every day after?
Is it the first hello?
The way beginners are treated?
The patience of experienced players?
The follow-up after a Come & Try Day?
The way existing members are valued, listened to, included, and not quietly taken for granted?
New members matter. Of course they do.
But so do the people already standing on the lawn.
The ones who turn up, help out, play, volunteer, coach, open gates, make tea, set hoops, mark courts, welcome strangers, and keep the club breathing.
A strong club does not only attract people.
It gives them a reason to stay.
What does your club do well — or what could clubs do better — to make both new and existing members feel they belong?

We came 2nd in our away match against Stourbridge on Saturday. Our wonderful hosts provided a first class afternoon tea. Lovely day.

Great turnout for our U3A session and hopefully potential new members will come from it. Well done to members who have been promoting the club!
